Just watched a couple of geand final golds I had saved on Sky, 2007 & 2008, we have a long way to go to get back to a team like we had then - Senior, Ellis, Peacock, Mcguire, Sinfield, Webb all world class at that stage! We have been very privileged to watch s great team over the last 15 years but I do admit the transition has been woefully managed!

Sinfield mentioned that this may take more than one off season to fix and I thought his comments last week were telling to how he thought the club has been run in the past few years

Players to get rid of immediately:
Thompson- a signing on par with Ben Cross or Joe Vickery
Crosby- not good enough for Wiagn and not good enough for us
Ablett- good servant to the club but has been poor for 3/4 years now
Luke Briscoe- not good enough
Delaney- just can't see him being on the pitch long enough to earn his keep

Players to get rid of in a year if they do not prove their worth:
Ferres- past his best but could still be a decent weapon
Sutcliffe- I am losing hope he will ever get close to his potential but fear if we get rid he will get picked up by Cas and become a world beater, I would like to see how he does for a year under Furner
Dwyer- some fans like him, but for me he plays for himself, is not quick enough to be a devastating impact hooker and not creative enough to be our starter
Cuthbertson
JJB- want him in the squad one more year (as a squad player) just for the dressing room
Peteru- not nearly shown enough

I've been rewatching GFs with my 10 year old, and Crosby was very good for Wigan in the 2015 GF against us - there's a good prop in there IMO. Certainly more potential than the likes of Mullally.

I think we'll have some surprises both in terms of signings and how players go under Furner. I expect to see a few play at a much higher level under him as a coach, but equally wouldn't be shocked to see some previous favourites disappear without trace. Its certainly going to be an interesting off-season, and if we do bring in a couple of players at least next season will feel completely fresh.

I think they are just lining everything up and having Furner ready as part of it. As I posted a few weeks back, and it was from high up at the club, we have four agreed deals, one of them a big one. I have no doubts of that been announced, but I just hope there is more than that.

I would agree about being impatient but there is no doubt the messaging has changed.

If your comments about 4 signings, which I assume doesn't include lolohea and mcClelleand (spelling) then 6 new players would represent the type of off-season I was hoping for - subject to them being better than what we have now and at least covering some of the gaps we have.

Anymore than 6 or 7 and the influx becomes too big and risks being counterproductive.

They may be waiting for Furner to come over before any signings are announced, so he can be involved in the press conferences.

I wouldn't disclude Lolohea been one of the four, and did say that at the time I posted previously. I couldn't get a confirmation on that. Just said three Overseas and one British.

Has any date been given as to when Dave Furner is due to take up the reins at HQ?

I asked Pete Smith and he just said "Pre Season" couldn't / didn't give me a fixed date at the time as he hasn't been told or allowed to tell.

My bet is sometime in November. That's when pre-season starts and whilst he will want / need some time off after the NRL season, I'm sure he will be eager to get started.

It's not a clear out that's required, it's a very, very big flush.
