| Quote: sharky64 "So my source has come through again. I’m sorry but there has been some over reactions here. How many times have we signed and stuck by people with rap sheets? Yes Zak has had a few granted but I don’t think this time at Wigan was the same. His family life changed and he wanted a move to a Yorkshire club and he had suitors but Wigan said no. So basically he has thrown his toys out of the pram a little and their hand has been forced. If you weren’t happy and circumstances had changed would you take the necessary steps? Maybe not in the same way but I know I would do my best. I’m sure there is some kind of clause in the contract to say if he messes up then he’s gone. Let’s just give him a chance, he’s been given the rope it’s up to him not to hang himself. He’s a talent and he’s a damn sight better than our options and miles ahead of Sutcliffe.'"
Anything more from your source on the other player movement?

The problem witth that is that hes had so much rope there is now a world rope shortage. You cant keep telling someone "behave or you are out" and then give them another chance. We gave him countless chances and all he did was throw them back in our faces. He dragged the clubs name thru the mud, he abused Leeds fans on social media, almost misssd coaches to matches, turned up drunk to training constantly, played a WCC under drug influence, beat up students and thats just at Leeds. Hes done that at every club and England too. Watch As Good As It Gets again and realise this lad is trouble.
By all means give him rope but the lad is too stupid to hang himself.
Hes never going to change and all this "super talent" i keep seeing ive not seen it for 4 years really if im honest. Hes Wigans 3rd choice full back now in truth. Hes not the player that left Leeds or Cas.
Hes had his chances at Leeds he disgraced himself. I wouldnt want him back at all.

Massive over reaction going on here to something that hasnt even happened yet.
Some seem to think hes being offered 3 year deal. Wait for any announcement before going in to panic mode.
Clearly not the player he was when he left us but still can do a job in multiple positions. The position we are in right now I dont think we can be too choosey and neither can he'"
Agreed...sign him up for rest of season only though.
Performance / behaviour determines any extension

| If we sign him it sends out a message to him that no matter how badly he behaves some club will employ him. If you want to create an elite culture is he really a player you want to have in your squad?
We wont get relegated and he will be restricting opportunities from younger players - because if you sign him he has to play.

| I'm not sure about this. I'd probably take him until the end of the season given our current predicament and injury situation, but I'd be uncomfortable in him blocking the paths of players like Walker and Broadbent long-term if he wants more than this season.
As for the moral high ground:
a) None of us know the precise circumstances over his departure from Wigan. Most people are probably putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with 5.
b) None of us are perfect, and it is up to the club to make a call over what they know about Zak's professionalism and commitment to Leeds, if it is going to be his second stint with us. He doesn't seem to have broken the law at any rate.
c) As Leeds fans we have supported and signed players with potentially worse track records. Bailey and Walker both served custodial sentences. In more recent memory I don't remember a huge outcry when Rob Lui was signed, and he left Leeds on good terms. There's always a fine line with signings like this. The controversy over Greg Bird was a bit higher stakes because at the time (IIRC) he had been accused of domestic violence; likewise Israel Folau was unrepentant in his discriminatory views when Catalans picked him up. As far as we know, Hardaker's activities don't fall into these categories.

Get your point re Bailey, Walker and Lui, but the key difference for me is that they are all examples of individuals who have made terrible mistakes, been lucky enough to receive a 2nd chance, and then taken it without really looking back. Zac has clearly been unable to do this. We don't know what went on at Wigan, but you don't have to be a mystic to read between the lines of Matty Peet's comments. Wigan had had enough. Even though he is not the player he was in 2017 he'd still best full back or left centre at Leeds, but surely it would just be a matter of time before the idiocy impacts the whole team in a negative way.

| Smithy now quoting GH saying we’re talking to Zak. If that’s the YEP line, it’s done.

| Surely, surely, this is only a deal to the end of this season?
We can eat humble pie now, because we're so desperate and need to avoid relegation at all costs.
But he can't possibly be part of Smith's longer term plans...

Him and his mum getting arrested for drunk and disorderly was the final straw at Wigan.
If you are trying to instil a professional culture at the club he isn’t the way to go.
I guess though as a short term panic buy he could do a job for rest of the season.
Lad has sadly been his own worst enemy time and time again and despite all his “I’ve changed” media bites he’s proof a leopard doesn’t change its spots.

| Be interesting to see what sentence Zak gets for his latest misdemeanour.
