Contracted to 2020, but would still go for him. I know people mention Tom Johnstone but McGillvary is more suited to what we want from our wingers with playing like an extra forward giving us good yardage coming from our own line.

| We don't seem to be in the running for Barba which is disappointing. He may have baggage but it is the only way a genuine NRL star would come to SL.
Gigot also being shopped around, wouldn'the mind him in the centres.

| He will only be here for the back end of the season as he has a long ban to serve. Add to that we have our own players like Golding and Walker we are trying to develop, and rightly so. Moreover, Hetherington has already been burnt with another outcast NRL player in Segeyaro just last season, he's unlikely to be going down the same road and dealing with another any time soon.

If he was available I would expect Hull to be in for him as well. Perfect replacement for Fonua

| So Barber goes to Saints - another class player comes up & we do f__k all . I don`t care about his baggage - we didn`t bother about Ferres & his problems. We have a lack of class players - our current full back is young , and adds nothing to our attack . Full backs today are like another half back and we all know the state of our half backs.
Gary has now taken his eye off the ball for too long - a great team achieved everything but our forward planning is useless. Our coach who has overseen youth development during his years in charge and has no confidence in the young players he brings in - he either leaves them on the bench or doesn`t play them at all.
The time has come to invest in the team - spend some money Gary or sling your hook & take Mac with you.

Maybe we've learnt from the Segeyaro fiasco. Barba coming over here because he can't get an NRL gig ATM. Won't be able to play until halfway through the Super 8's (but will be getting paid handsomely no doubt whilst sitting in the stands) and will no doubt have NRL teams interested in him for 2018 now that his ban will have been served sat in the stands at Saints.

| Is Barba serving the 12 game ban then?
Would have liked us to sign him if the ban was upheld for the NRL.

| He'll play a few games for saints. If he does well he'll be back in the nrl next season. It's segyaro v2.
We're well clear with him. We have 2maybe 3 young players who will fill the fullback position, but need to grow into the role.
The success of the last 15 years has been build around young lads coming through, not throwing money at fading NRL stars looking after themselves

That is quite a bit of a spin there Eagle, so not sure if what saying correct. So might have misunderstood.
Yes built on youngsters coming through, planned of course, but also "around" quality overseas players. Without those quality "overseas" players likely the youngsters wouldn't have progressed. The part played of players like Dunneman, Furner, Buderus, Ali, Webb, Donald, Kylie, Poching, Bai, even Ailton and Delaney, can not have been missed. We have been equally reliant on overseas players as any other team over the years.
We would have been relegated last year without the signing of Segeyaro. This year we are where we are because of Parcell, that can simply not be down played.

Not forgetting Moon, Cuthbertson & Garbutt as well.
