| The Bears still have more chance than PNG. Nobody wants to expand there except for the Australian government. Players wouldn't live there, and they would have to play out of Cairns or fly in and fly our for games. They would get hammered regularly with very little scope to improve, as I doubt they would ever attract top NRL players except those with PNG backgrounds. I wouldn't be surprised if there's some brinkmanship at play with the Bears bid to get the WA govt to commit more money.
Looking at our squad vs Wigan and Sts, even with the new signings, you have to say some of our players must be on massive overs compared to their ability if we are tight with the cap. Of the players currently on the books for next year a whole bunch haven't got a lot of experience between them, and Holroyd and Gannon aren't exactly seasoned pros at the top of their earning potential.

| Cas have offloaded 9 today, guessing Ruan could go there and possibly Sangare if we cover some wages. My old friend who lives under Lock Lane bridge informs me that Cas won’t pay any player over £75k a year , so they are out of the running for Cleary.

| The thing with Sangare is that coaches will look at his sheer size and think they could turn him into a player. Call it the "Karl Pryce" conundrum. Maybe Arthur does as well? Problem is I can't remember a big forward whose basic problem was lack of vim ever becoming a monster later in their career.

| Agreed. The temptation is to try to ”convert” a big lad who doesn’t have the attitude or toughness, into a monster prop. Never works, cut our losses and move him on.

| Seems surprising Momorovski is considering a coaching role at only 28 years old.

Hmmm and it tells you all you need to know where his head is and where his performances have been... he should be at his peak at 28.

| Quote: Trebor1 "You would like to think this would clear some decent cap space but is that being taken by Jake Connor? He won't move for peanuts at this stage of his career. I'd be surprised and disappointed though if Connor is our only back line recruit.. we need more strike there.'"
I don't think Connor has a strong bargaining position. Despite his obvious talent, he's failed to deliver at both Hull and Hudds. Now, regarded as damaged goods, he's arrived at the biggest sleeping giant ( we now merit that tag) in the game. It's his last chance saloon and though he won't be on peanuts, he should be on a wage commensurate with recent performances. I take encouragement from Blease's history of getting the best out of players who have run out of road. Hopefully it works out for both.

| One things for sure Brad Arthur will not tolerate any nonsense from him (or any other player for that matter)

Enjoyed hearing Blease and Oates talk about him. Nice man but you wouldn't want to make him angry. A trait in common with all my best teachers. Also really great to hear that Blease knew almost before he arrived, that he'd likely be there for 25.

Apparently so. Not for me but let’s see how he goes. Massive ego and doesn’t seem the sort of character that fits into a good team culture that club officials have banged on about us not having and wanting to create again for a while now. He will have a lot of work to do to win over many of the fans that’s for sure but as we all know if he’s creating try’s from the off and winding up opponents and their fans (that he excels at) then we will probably end of loving him..either that or he continues with his petulant ways blaming everyone around him for errors rather than himself and he gets bombed out of the club within a year

He definitely didn't fail to deliver, was overall excellent fir us and a huge loss. Fantastic talent, I'd say his best position is centre, but could do a great job at 6 too. Lacks pace, which is often exposed at FB and loses his head a but too easy.
Think it's a really smart signing for Leeds
