| So who was missing for Salford today, it must be two of them that are the positives...

| The final will definitely go ahead; nobody in the game thinks otherwise.
Very unlucky for Salford but we still have to beat them.

| Wouldn’t be surprised on tonight’s game if Mustapha was given a spot in the 21 man squad.
Myler; Briscoe Sutcliffe Hurrell Handley; Lui Gale; Seumanufagai Leeming Oledzki; Martin Mellor; Prior. Dwyer Donaldson Holroyd, Smith / Cuthbertson / Mustapha
Walker McLelland.

I think it will be as above with Smith the final spot. We need our big trucks down the middle and then we have the balance in the rest of the side now to cause problems.
We need to pick the best side to win the game of course, but for me I think also reward the players who played so well against Wigan to get us there. If you contributed in that game and then got dropped for the final you'd be (rightfully) peeved.
I much prefer Prior at LF (this was always going to be the case). He has a high workrate and a really good offload game.
If we're on I don't think Salford will be able to live with this side, but strange things happen in Cup Finals sometimes.... I'm still scarred by the "limping Senior" game against Hull!

| Mustapha?
He has potential but I think he was a touch disappointing last night. Think there are far more deserving players from last night albeit I suspect we will go with the same 17 as the final with Walker and Cuthbo unlucky to miss out.

I love his enthusiasm but concerned about his lack of size.Going to HKR for a season loan will do him a lot of good and should give Leeds a good idea if he's going to make the grade at SL.

| Muizz will need to play as the 3rd prop to be effective. People look at him and think hes too small but he is powerful and strong. 30 tackles last night. A season at KRnt will do him a lot of good if it happens.
O'Connor 49 tackles, very impressive. When he 1st came to the club he looked dreadful. He would be in my 17 going forward now, Walters also, obviously not for Sat tho.

| The key for Muizz will be getting him to bulk up without affecting his speed and mobility too much. The likes of Clarkson and Walters probably put on too much bulk too quickly which pretty much ruined their potential.

Again the obsession with 'bulking up'...
If only life were as simple as that

Walters is still a wee bit underdone for me, looks great going forward but his D needs work - mostly due to upper body strength. Won’t let anyone down with some bench appearances for sure but Martin, Mellor, Prior, Smith, Donaldson, maybe Thompson and A Sutcliffe all ahead realistically right now.
He will be pushing for a permanent bench spot next year I’d imagine. He took his try brilliantly against Wire.
Again if you mean first grade 17 not sure who O’Connor replaces right now. Like Walters, won’t let anyone down when his time comes though.
Good that we’re getting competition for places in lots of positions now, will be a few senior players looking over their shoulders.

O'Connor replaces Dwyer in the 17 for me. A tackling 9 in the middle of the park would be just what this teams needs. We have to get these lads involved now. We can keep coming up with excuses to stop it happening but it needs to happen.
They are lacking experience thats all. They have shown they can make a good fist of it. Get them involved more regularly, game here game there. They arent going to let anyone down.

Walters is going to look underdone he's only played twice in virtually 12 months. Sutcliffe will be at centre this season but for mine if Mellor or Martin are injured he should be ahead of the rest for a starting spot. Donaldson is best used off the bench. Prior is better used as a starting 13 and then moved to prop when Smith comes on. The more Walters plays with better players the better he'll get.

| Yeah agree about Walters, but I've noticed he has a tendency to flap a bit in D even coming through the academy. I think it's just height, long levers and a relative lack of upper body strength combined. He gets stuck in but I've seen him miss a few tackles if he has a weakness in his game currently. It will come as he develops. Going forward he is already a handful at SL level.
