If that's right it's a step forward.

| At least we have Lolohea to knock one over. Last year I never fancied us to get a 1 pointer with our squad.

WRT golden point its a farce & should only be used for knock out games.'"
The problem is they go down injured in-field otherwise the ref would carry on at the moment. I don’t think you can have a rule that means we are moving potentially injured players.
I think maybe we need something whereby if a player goes down injured and needs play to be stopped to be treated then that player misses 3/4/5 tackles of the next set of 6 until he can come back on, a bit like in football where if a player needs treatment he then has to go off until the ref allows him back on. They’re a tough bunch are RL players so if a player is hurt enough he actually needs treatment by the physio/doctor then having a minute on the sidelines is probably for the best anyway.

| Might just be easier to allow the attacking side an 8 or 9 tackle set when play resumes

I think they do for the most part unless it’s a head injury. It’s actually rare to see the game stopped for an injury unless they’re in the way of play. The problem is the feigning of injuries during stoppages like drop outs, scrums etc.

| It used to be rare but last season saw a lot of stoppages for injuries even in back play. I'm not sure why that changed.

In L1 last year the game was stopped for an injury no matter where it took place on the field. I saw it done for players 60 or 70m from play. It also happened at almost every drop out in the field of play.
The ref seemingly had no way of knowing whether it was a head injury so stopped play regardless.
Some games ended up lasting several days.

Surely that was more down to all the 3 minute conversion you kept kicking tho?

Unfortunately not.
Anyone remember when Colin Whitfield was sinbinned for taking too long over a conversion? It was for Fax in the 80s.

The problem with this is the Thursday night game. All Thursdays should be derbies, no cross-pennine games. Best would be to cancel them altogether but its a Sky thing so wont happen. The golden point is a good idea.

| Quote: Marty Grrrrrrrrrr! "Not sure how shot clock will work for drop outs if it doesn't apply if their is an injury. The only reason drop outs take so long is cos a player goes down injured every time.
We then will have to wait while the "injured" player hobbles off which will give the team time to fetch the card they need for him to run on.
It could take Chris Hill a couple of mins with his cramp fits he gets every time a drop out is awarded.
It's an issue that needed addressing tho so fair play for that.'"
Chris Hill is a joke that is allowed to happen, if refs had they would just play on but they let him be treated. I remember when only serious injuries used to stop play.

have to agree to disagree. do't like it at all. a draw is a fair resullt, golden point just a drop goal contest. if we insist on golden point it should be golden try only or like NFl cannot win by field goal in first score, then its just extra time.

It's not the refs fault if a player is down injured in the field of play at a drop out. He can't play on and he can't judge if a player is genuinely injured or not. There is nothing he can do and with the rule changes there is still nothing he can do.
