| Quote: The Ghost of '99 "Garbutt had one season which was massively affected by injury - the one just gone. His appearances in '16 and '17 were slightly lower than others not because of a massive injury problem but because sometimes he wasn't picked.
This is the most bull transfer I've seen at Leeds in the past 20 years, I don't think I've been this angry since James Lowes was given to Bradford.
Garbutt was our best forward by a mile and we've just released him. We've made the squad weaker at a time when we're trying to strengthen. Watch him next season as he kills it at Hull KR.'"
A touch hyperbolic I think
What if getting rid of Garbutt means we sign Taupau?
Alternatively Hull KR could regret signing hm if he's sat in the stands for most of the season.

| Initially I was pretty shocked when I heard this was happening given he has been our most go forward prop...
What makes me wonder though is if he is so great why has he ended up at Hull KR. I know we were both in the bottom 4 but this must be seen as a backward step overall. If he is so good why does it not look like any top 8 side was in for him or an NRL club? There is more to this than meets the eye.
Leeds now need to sign a player better than him to show progress.

I don't know, but we have to trust in the judgement of the club don't we? They see the players every day, deal with indiscretions, problems, and monitor their health. He is a very big human to have bad knees and get away with it. I can't believe Crosby is the Garbutt replacement, so there has to be another prop in the pipeline you would think. Unless Leeds really are trying to construct a pack made entirely of second rowers and one hooker.

| I expect you'll have better players to come in that haven't been announced yet. Sit tight.

I agree, Crosby isn't garbutt replacement in my eyes. I think he was always going to be added if he did ok on loan. I have been expecting mullally to leave which if he does means we have:
Crosby
Singleton
Petreu (who I think would make a good 2nd row)
Cuthbo (who was less of a prop last season)
Olejdski (who I think may be better served on a full years loan)
So it feels like we should be looking at 2 new props.

Yep pretty much my thoughts mate. You can't work second phase effectively if you're on the back foot and knackered through overwork in D. +2 starting props, and suddenly we free Cuthbo and Peteru to play back row, covering for injuries and form. We still probably need to lose 2-3 backrowers come the end of 2019 at that (JJB already announced). Ferres/Ward/Cuthbertson back 3 with Peteru, Smith, Ablett, JJB and maybe an Academy prospect is looking far stronger suddenly. Still have no clue what the club intends to to with Sutcliffe, and what happened to the Parcell rumours..?

| He has gone to Hull KR because that is one of the 3 SL clubs his agent has a strong relationship: Castleford and Warrington being the other two.

Which is why I fully expect Golding to go to Warrington.

That would seem like a really odd move to me.
I know he is behind walker at Leeds but he will be behind ratchford at Warrington and while ratchford is older he isn't about to retire or anything.
I would think he had more chance at game time at Leeds and surely we need a back up fullback?

Perhaps yeah. Though I'm hoping lolohea gets stuck in at 6 and I actually would have thought sutty was more likely to leave than Golding.

| Absolute joke. We've just given away by far our only decent metre making prop. We'll do well to make top 8.
