Botham was not bad, not great but a decent squad player.
Vickery yeah terrible.
Nathan Picci circa 96 ran round like a headless chicken for 10 minutes went off injured never to be seen again.

| I love the concept of the Hall of Fame but they need use a bit of discretion with the rules. As it currently stands the likes of Keith Rayne and Dave Heron will get into the Hall of Fame whilst Eric Harris and Ellery Hanley won't.
No disrespect to Rayne and Heron who was both decent players and I'm sure there are worse examples I could have picked but Harris and Hanley were different gravy and have to be in any Hall of Fame Leeds RL have.

criteria
Played a minimum of 150 first team games for Leeds
Have made an exceptional contribution to rugby in Leeds
Achieved representative honours during their playing career
Retired for a minimum of 5 years
Ellery would miss out as not quite played enough games. 114 appearances 106 trys. shame really yes his best days were at Wigan And Bradford but RL hall of famer played for us should be considered.

| If Eric Harris qualifies how has he not been named already??? Eric Harris, Arthur Clues and Fred Webster have to be in the first 8 to be named surely.
It certainly makes for an interesting topic.

I suggest you go on to the Leeds Website where the chairman of the Heritage committee explains the criteria . He said' they are chosen in no particular order and this year it spanned from the 1990s ,1960s .1950s and 1920s ,next year they might be grouped in one era ' there are approximately about 129 players qualify out of 1500 at present ' Phil Caplans words not mine !...Eric Harris was named last year when someone commented about Harris not qualifying ,he replied ' yes he did apparently he played a for a combined RL team against a French team in the mid 30s. All the players that you mentioned get discussed by the committee as candidates before they come to a decision . Like I said go on the website and hear Caplan explain the procedure

There will be plenty more announced over next few years, club making an event over releasing 4 players at once, I would expect (excluding players from golden generation) the likes of Dave heron, Roy Powell, maybe Carl Gibson, Sydney Heinz, les Dyl, all to be addd at some point.

| Actually I expected John Atkinson to be inducted this year not only for his great record at the club . but as a gesture of compassion to his family.
I think there are three from Fred Webster's era, himself "Bucket" Young and Dinny Campbell that's if Campbell played a representative game

| There's also Fred Harrison, Willie Davies and William Ward from Campbell's era. I think Campbell (like Harris and a few other great Aussies who played most of their career in England like Brian Bevan) only played rep for invitational teams.
In fact the 150 appearances rule is a bigger problem - it prevents not only Hanley but also the likes of Alf Watson, Billy Jarman, Stan Brogden, Vic Hey, Iestyn Harris, Ken Thornett and Tony Crosby from being in the Hall of Fame.

yes I think one hundred would have been appropriate Thornett was Leeds best ever Full back . McLlellen played for other Nats which was full test status

| Thornett, Hey and Joe Busch all played more than 100 games for Leeds and were included in a list of Australia's greatest RL players of the century a few years ago. 150 is a strange number, it doesn't really mean more than 100, which in itself means they played at least 3 if not more seasons for Leeds. Vic Hey played for Leeds for 7 seasons but his appearances were limited due to WW2. Even then he managed to play in 2 Challenge Cup wins. Joe Busch was at Leeds for 5 years. Thornett played for Leeds for for 4 and a bit years and played almost as many games as he did for Parramatta where he's a club legend and has a stand at Parramatta stadium named after him.

| As an aside I'd suggest Jim Brough would probably be Leeds' all time greatest fullback. Over 400 games, 19 seasons and 3 Challenge Cup wins (only equalled by John Atkinson).
Assuming the club awards 4 a year I'd suggest1 should be from the modern era (1970s to present), and the remainder from earlier, but in any case they should prioritise those very old players who are still alive.

I'm only saying Thornett is the Best I have seen and I know all about Brough's record too . we have all got our opinions of how the inductions should be awarded ,but its the Heritage Committee who set the criterea
