i see the Walker fanboys from social media are filtering onto here.
walker is good and may end up being great, but very little between him and Golding at the moment. Golding playing well and does not deserved to be dropped. that said no place on bench for Dwywr and walker, so would go with walker as Golding has looked good filling in at 9 as well.

| I think its neither here nor there who we select at FB, first and foremost we have to be at it in the pack and match wire there to win this game.
Big match this, 2 points is all that matters.

Stevie Wonder can see the gulf in class between Walker and Golding - its huge.

Fanboys?
Walker is every bit as good as Golding in every facet of the game & a step above in attack in particular that's not fanboy stuff that's shown in his performances.
I like AG but Walker is a better FB.

| Walker and Dwyer to drop out according to McDermott. Dwyer is about a week away, and Walker will play in the 19s to get some fitness back.

| I think these thinking there is no difference are on a different planet. It is unfortunate on Golding it really is, as he gives his all and is a gifted player in his own right. However, the team are miles ahead when Walker plays in the position. His influence on the team is far greater than Golding. An interesting stat is just how many drop outs we make per match with Golding at fullback, in comparison to Walker, and look at the effect that alone has on the side.

| Walker offers something different for sure. I'm not sure how long it'll take for opposition coaches and defenders to start to read him though. Where he goes when (if) that point is reached is the crucial thing for me. I'm not sure he has the pace that a young Tomkins did. In the meantime, it's a joy to watch a full back who plays with a touch of the unorthodox and poses a real threat in attack.

every body keep saying about his supposed threat in attack, but i really have not seen that much of it, think its just one of those myths people state as fact. its ok scoring hat tricks against doncaster but not seen much again good teams, people making out like he is busting the line her there and every where ans scoring trys for fun.
as stated earlier he may be the better player but there is not much in it, and at the moment Golding has the shirt, if walker is that good he should have no problem taking it from him.

I never said he was busting the line here, there and everywhere. I haven't even said he's better than Golding and I didn't say he should be picked ahead of him. What he looks capable of is making the odd clean break in a game - an area in which we're lacking. That's all it would take to win those one point defeat games and secure the ones where we're clinging onto leads of less than a converted score. Tiny margins, in other words.
Besides, I like watching him play. That ok?

I would be very interested in this statistic. I have said for time that Golding is poorly positioned and concedes far too many goal line drop outs from tapping it out or getting tackled in the in goal area. I would like to see if this is true.
As pointed out, I agree Walker lifts the team and fits in better. Walker is at least equal defensively and poses a real attacking threat. I like Golding but I would pick Walker ahead of him every day of the week.

Maybe he fields more kicks because we defend better when he plays? Not saying this is necessarily the case but the stats, even if available, won't tell the full tale.

You only had to watch the Castleford match at Elland Road to see the stats certainly were not lying then. Golding is very poor positionally, and doesn't have the strength to compensate for that. For me that is one of the major differences between the two players.

again where is the evidence to support this, everybody that spouts stuff like this just want there shiney new toy in the side. just because you keep saying walker is better attacker and Golding positioning is poor does not make it true, show the proof. lets face it some people simply have it in for Golding and think Walker is some sort of messiah rather than just a good prospect.
seen players like walker that people think are this and that come and go, see sutcliffe people saying he was a world beater 4 years ago, average squad player now.

I haven’t said anything about Walkers attacking play, only you spouting that one.
I was specific on how the side plays better with him there. If you don’t see that, then you are not watching. This is the same with the positioning and clearing the ingoal. This is all clear.
Golding is a very good player. His positioning and strength in collision to clear, are however poor in comparison.

I agree with you and I think that some folk were over critical of Golding when he first came into the side as he made a few errors. IMO he is a real talent and has developed his game especially in defense where he is ahead of Walker and has made so many one on one key tackles. I also think he is better than Walker in positional play at full back who sometimes arrives too late to even attempt the sort of tackle that Golding makes.
Having said that Walker is also a real talent who looks to have the edge in attack yet has only made one more clean break than Golding and opposition sides seem to read his now predictable dummy and go.
They have not played the same minutes this season but Golding has made 38 tackle busts (our 4th best ) to Walker's 11 and he has made 135 tackles to Walker's 24 with walker making one more errors and one more missed tackle.
I rate both players and believe they will both end up as regulars in the same side
