| Ferres, Garbutt, Galloway, Segeyaro and you have to assume increasing deals/amounts for other players like Watkins, Sutcliffe, Lilley, Ward have to be accounted for.

Why do you have to assume increased amounts for Watkins, Sutcliffe, and Ward? they all had long term contracts. Lilley is a certainty, you are right there, but nothing to suggest the others. Watkins was on very big money long before this year. Of course there will also be Gouldens lates contract to throw into the mix.

I just don't get what people see in Ratchford, he is 28 and still hasn't managed to nail down a specific position. His game management and kicking aren't good for a half and his defensive positioning is poor for a fullback. He also has a nasty habit of carrying the ball one handed into heavy traffic.

Yeah I'd agree with that. Whilst it's said on the other thread he's better in all departments than Sutcliffe, so he should be. He made his debut 6 years before Sutcliffe and is now hitting his prime years at 28. Good player but probably should be better at this stage and has an advantage of playing in a Wire team that when they run hot can make players look better than they are. Don't recall him etting the world alight and solving Wire's problems at HB post Briers and they had to go find some NRL guys.

Will still be on comparitive peanuts even after an increase. If he's on anymore than that the CEO has lost it and I doubt he has.

He was on £600 a month last year tvoc. I know your opinion on him, but he was worth far more than that, and will have been compensated accordingley.

I actually think its the other way around. I think he has been moved around so much hes not developed into being great at any one position, just alright in several. a change of scenery would do him good

| You'd hope so, not that they would have occurred all that often in 2016.
If you were full-time - let's say circa 37.5 hrs a week and your gross was £600 a month that would equate to a hourly rate of £3.69 Come on Gary, we're not Sheffield.

| By last year does Gotcha mean 2015 or 16? For those part time players or those without a contract a win bonus is a huge income, assuming all players get the same win bonus, which used to be the case.

Of course we don't know in individual cases but often younger players contracts will steadily increase over the course of a long term contract. Often the reverse is true of older players.

| Back to Ratchford, thought he was excellent last night. Real quality performance in an otherwise sub-standard game.

I'm a big fan of ratchford but putting that to one side he was good at fb last night, do we need that?
I think sutty has done well so far and should only get better. You also could not move him to so to accommodate ratchford so would have to move him to the forwards or move him on. Some like sutty for 13 but I don't.
What we do need is a so. Is ratchford the answer to that? I like him at so but I understand why others have reservations so it would probably be a risk. Can we afford to take that risk?

| are they not similar? ratchford is a decent player who, had he nailed a set position earlier, would have been better off.
unless leeds decide where sutty is going to play he also will end up as a jack of all trades. even us fans are split. i'm not sure he will be anything more than an adequate full back and 13 is his best position.
someone somewhere needs to make a decision

| I know we are desperate, but Ratchford is not going to give us anything significantly better than what we've already got. Like someone said, Wire rate him so highly they brought in Gidley.
