| Quote: finglas "But I'm thinking of a situation whereby, suppose Wakefield have a DR agreement with Bradford. They both end up in the middle 8's with Widnes. It's the last round and Wakefield are in 4th spot and Widnes are 3rd on the same points. Wakefield have to play Bradford.
Now this situation is feasible if all SL teams DR with Championship teams. Whether anything is "agreed", there will always be the accusation flying around if Wakefield get the win that gives them safety.'"
Only the same issue as there's ever been with loan players. As soon as the middle 8's start they are effectively loan players.
If those players are deemed by, in this case, Bradford to have helped Bradford lose then they won't want them back again nor will they want a DR relationship with Wakefield.

But a fair few may end up with a slight strain or sprain. A pulled muscle here and there.
To be honest its indicative of the lack of any joined up thinking whatsoever in current RL structures. We have a dual reg system where a club could end up meeting its partner in a convoluted million pound game thats not for a million pounds. But not all clubs have a dual reg agreement, there will also be a U23s league for no-one to watch the same 4 SL clubs play each other three times and 5 lower championship sides. 1 of those SL clubs will be 'sharing' an academy because they have decided they dont want to run one themselves. Not all clubs will be running academies and there will be academies with no club at the end.
The RFL are a supply teacher letting the kids do whatever they want and occasionally justifying their paycheck with a lame request to open their textbooks and a half d 'its your time your wasting'

| The Rhinos have all 25 first team squad players dual registered with Featherstone Rovers for 2016
It will be interesting to see how much better prepared our players are should they be recalled to our starting 17 when required compared to the clubs that are running an under 23's squad ?
Dual Reg has served our club pretty well so far and has allowed our clubs players to perform in a far tougher competition than academy level and it has allowed players like Josh Walters to walk straight into a Grand Final 17 man squad whilst not making many senior appearances during that regular season
This debate will prove intersting

| The Under 23s games are glorified friendlies. Results won't matter, intensity will be low to non-existent.
I'd rather have players in a competitive environment where Every Minute Matters than going through the motions in front of half a dozen people on a Wednesday night at Orrell.

| Walters, Baldwinson, Handley, Golding, Keinhorst, Achurch, Lilley will be the regulars that play for Featherstone for me.
Wouldn't be suprised to see C Smith and Jordan- Roberts playing at Hunslet at some point next season.

Pretty much agree although i'd also hope Baldwinson at least gets plenty of SL game-time with us.

| Baldwinson has just turned 21, that is still very young for a prop and it will likely still be 2-3 more years until he starts to fully blossom gradually putting on more bulk, and being fully ready for SL imo.Singleton is a couple of years older and it was only really last year he looked capable of being trusted in the 17 on a regular basis.
Yes, i hope he can get a handful of games for us at least to give him something to build on, but i feel another year playing mainly in the championship (a good standard) won't do him any harm at all.

| Rules have changed this season in regards to duel registration players. They can now play for both clubs at any point in the eights also. Obviously a disadvantage if say Leeds were in the super eight qualifiers with Featherstone.

| If you're a SL club who are playing in the middle eights and so is your DR partner club, I would imagine the first thing you do is recall your DR players. I can't see how any Championship side could, hand on heart, expect a SL side to provide them with players to assist in getting the SL side potentially relegated.

yep. Which is why it makes sense for a Championship side to look to DR with a SL side that has virtual zero chance of being dragged i to the middle 8's.

To be honest, from a Fev fan's point of view, if we (Fev) make the middle 8's the DR arrangement will have already been proved to be a massive success. The prize differential between 4th and 5th in the Championships is enormous, that's presumably why Fev had struggled with recruitment/retention this off-season; I don't know what the arrangement will be with Leeds if Fev make it to the middle 8s but I'm pretty sure if you said to Mark Campbell right now we'd finish 4th in the Championship then 8th of 8 in the Middle 8s he'd be delighted.

| Are they any DR agreements between teams who have a realistic chance of meeting in the Middle 8's?

Thinking back to last season, I'm struggling to remember Leigh or Bradford fielding any DR players. Not sure about Halifax or Sheffield.

| Can't DR players only play for one club in the second phase of the season, even if their registered clubs are in different 8s? If so, I'd imagine all the Leeds players will be recalled from Fev because you can't say two months in advance how injuries will hit come the end of the season. Might be wrong on the rules though.
