982.jpg [quote:1pqtnbtj]Every player in our squad could probably earn more money with another club. But they prefer to sacrifice a few extra quid in their back pocket to share special memories. And playing at a place like Old Trafford on a night like this makes it all worthwhile.[/quote:1pqtnbtj]

| I liked the lad. He was a decent player but our third best winger and when given an extended run at full back (which I always thought was his natural position) he didn't look great.
Made sense to seek an established first team place but, as has been said, he would, ironically, have played a similar amount of games at Leeds as he did at Salford this year, with the injuries to the threequarters.

38511.jpg [b:3v5chy3z]Brian McDermott paraphrased Peter Fox.

| regarding calders,he is playing for stanningley in the summer conference and has also been coaching the junior sides up there too.
mark has hit a bit of hard times since his super league days tbf and now works on the building sites to earn his money
whilst he was at the rhinos he had a lot of hanger's on and they certainly used him for what they could get by being his mate, those so called pals have long since avoided his company now that he hasn't got the perks to hand them all to keep them sweet
but that's calders for you, he's a smashing lad but a bit guillable and it was no surprise to me that he fell for david howes' sweet talking skills and the fact that he could get them both some more money!!
this was the reason he left the rhinos, mark was happy with his offer of a new contract but he was told that the club would never let him go

I agree with your point but not sure why it embarrasses you.
As for BJB, good on him for breaking out of his comfort zone to get regular game time but I think he will be a bit disappointed to end up at wakey. Think he could have done a job for a team a little higher up. Hull was interested apparently or he could have been a good fit for Warrington (better than Orms and Penny).

1230.gif “You are playing a game of football this afternoon but more than that you are playing for England, and more even than that, you are playing for right versus wrong. You will win because you have to win. Don’t forget that message from home. England expects every one of you to do his duty.”:1230.gif |

| Wakey seems a step up from Salford, should get plenty of games in his best position and if it works out he can either extend or move to a bigger club. Good luck to the lad, sad to see some who can't accept that leaving Leeds could ever work out for anyone.

Apologies, embarassing was probably the wrong word to use. I just think these lads should be given credit for moving on if chances are limited & it's quite difficult to move on to better things if you're leaving a top team so the "never hit the heights after leaving" shouldn't be thrown at them. It's a very short career.

| Great signing for Wakey, and I'm glad BJB is out of that circus at Salford. Hopefully he can stay injury free and score a bag full of tries. He's got the ability. I don't blame him for leaving Leeds. He was 25 and was 2nd choice in all positions after we signed Briscoe. Good luck to the lad

| Chuffed for BJB, Nice guy I liked him always tried 100% technically not the best but like so many Leeds players played through his heart and therefore punched above his weight. I would have been happy for him to take over when Biscoe was injured but on the positive side Handley got a good work out.
I hope Wakey is a happy hunting ground for BJB
