| All depends on the money. We need the cash to rebuild HQ.
Taking it to London is a definite no go. The only way it'd possibly work is as a Triple Header with the other 2 games.
I can't see a particular benefit to taking it to Manchester or away from Leeds. Despite getting good crowds for an RL team, it's not like we've saturated the market in Leeds or its surrounding areas and we can still appeal to those people. They're more likely to come back as well.

| One of the best games ever for atmosphere was manly at HQ so Idont agree with the glorified friendly argument

| You could replace the magic weekend with a new version with all three matches played at the same venue on the same day. This would have the benefit of reducing the unnecessary extra league fixture.

Elland Rd is a terrible ground - 3/4 of which is close to derelict - if we want to use a stadium of that standard might as well stay at Headingley

| It was a great atmosphere for the last two played at Headingley and is guaranteed to be full to the rafters. Can't really see why anyone would want it played elsewhere.

Agree with this.
If it's a toss up between Elland Road & HQ it's HQ every day of the week.

Because it can be bigger than that. RL constantly complains that it doesn't get profile or sponsors or media talking about it. Getting half as many to watch the WCC than we did a decade ago is one of the reasons why.
How are we supposed to convince people that the WCC isn't just a cash grab, that it is a worthwhile competition if we treat it like a cash grab played at a home ground sponsored by a dodgy financial services company?
2005 nearly 40000 people watched a WCC involving leeds, only RL would look at 20k at Headingley in 2016 as success.

That was the first one the club played though so it was very much a novelty at the time hence the near full house. The other two games we played there we attracted 27k and 32k when we played Manly and Melbourne so a significant drop off. Add in the fact that Elland Road would cost a significant sum to use would it be worth the risk for GH moving it there? Only if we can be guaranteed to fill it, otherwise no imo.
And yes, personally i think a full stadium on our home ground full of our own fans, in a game we have earned to play there should be viewed as a success, because it is.Its international games played in 20k stadia because we can't fill the bigger grounds that irks me.

The drop off can be explained by the parts of Elland road that Leeds Utd didn't open
But still the lowest attendance at Elland road was 25% more than we could get at Headingley.
If the WCC is a competition to find the best rl side in the world, pitting the two biggest rl competitions against each other it could be huge. If it's a glorified friendly to make leeds rhinos a bit more money, frankly I don't think I could even be bothered to watch it on Sky never mind attend. It's the heatshot festive challenge with a fancier name.

| Nothing wrong with Headingley as others said will be packed and great atmosphere.
But surely we shold be making this an event to market the brand of the Rhino's outside of LS6
Market the game everywhere in Leeds make a presence in the City Centre with billboards with 3 trophys and J.Thurston etc.. and we would pack Elland Road with 35k easy.
Let's get some new and casual fans coming to HQ in 2016
We are small time when it comes to marketing we have no presense anywhere in the city. and having it at HQ is the safe and small time option

| Exactly. Get em on sale before Christmas, maybe even a special shirt commemorating the treble, I have no issue with it being milked, but it needs to be a big event that spreads the game to new people and gains profile. Not taking a bit extra from the same people who will turn up another 10+ times that year.

| As others have mentioned, Elland Road is a tired old stadium which is not really fan friendly and is still, when all is said and done, situated in Leeds like Headingley is so its hardly anymore than preaching to the converted when trying to promote the game around the local area which is all that wil happen, we have seen it all before. Yes you may get a few more thousand on the gate but personally i fail to see how that makes the game any bigger or further reaching than it is being played at Headingley.
I'm all for expansion if its done right, and if we were to take the game out of the RL heartlands to a bigger stadium elsewhere, with a big ambitious promotion drive like you mention then i'm with you and hopefully that would pay dividends but if its a straight toss up between Headingley and Elland road, it's Headingley without a doubt for me.

Bloody awful that. Never been a fan of the half and half shirts but 3 into 1 looks ridiculous.

Good grief that's hideous.
Also, it doesn't feature every kit we've played in this season as the Magic Weekend charity kit isn't represented - unless it's on the back somewhere.
