| If the primary objection of those Championship clubs who complained about the Leeds-Featherstone arrangement was that it created an unfair playing field, I do hope those scrapping with Warrington for a top four spot kick up a fuss with SL and the RFL about such a clear piece of salary cap avoidance. Sending a player on loan when you know he's not fit to play and likely never will be just so you can sign someone else is a nonsense.

| Quote: Stevosfalseteeth "I'm gradually losing respect for Tony Smith. He slated Darryl Powell (yes we all know he's a whinger) when he spoke out about Westwood putting Gale in hospital, and now in his desperation to land Sandow, his brother steps in at the 11th hour to take an injured player off his hands to free up the cap space. It's not shrewd business, it's a win at all costs mentality. I hope Sandow is a huge failure, and I hope Wakey go down'"
So because Wakey have helped out Warrington, because their new, brought in to keep them in SL, win at all cost, coach decided to help his brother. The entire club, players, supporters and all deserve to drop out of SL?
If Grix doesn't play any part in their battle to escape relegation, then its hard to see what advantage the Wakefield club gained. If anyone has questions about integrity and fair play to answer it is Warrington. But even then the benefits are questionable, I can't see Wire making top 4 with or with out Sandow. If they have breached SL rules then the RFL should take appropriate action, if not hats off to them. As I said earlier, if we had a similar opportunity to cover Aiton many, including me, would want Leeds to do the same.

The deal can not be done without both clubs agreeing it, so I think you are way off the mark to suggest only one club is guilty.
I also think you are misunderstanding what is been said on this thread, with your last sentence.

| From a totally cynical Leeds perspective, given that we've played them and won a strengthened Warrington is probably good, in that they are more likely to take points off others. Unless they somehow scrape into the top 4 and end up beating us in the playoffs of course. Still looks like a very dodgy business though.

| With the "live" cap presumably the RFL have approved this. It stinks though pure Cap avoidance.
Seems wire can even legitimately be paying all of Grix wages...
Loans and Dual Registration
(a) The temporary transfer of a Player by way of a loan shall be treated as a permanent transfer. Accordingly:
(i) where a Super League Club is the loaning Club, the Player shall cease to be a considered to be a Player of that Club for the purpose of calculating its Aggregate Liability for the duration of the Loan;
(ii) where a Super League Club is the loanee Club, the Player’s full Salary Cap Value at his original Club (for the avoidance of doubt excluding any dispensations that related only to the Original Club) shall count towards the loanee Club’s Aggregate Liability.
For the avoidance of doubt any agreement reached between the Clubs from and to which a Player is loaned as to who pays the Player’s salary (or part thereof) has no relevance to the treatment of the Player in accordance with this Clause.

| Quote: TOMCAT "Sounds like a lot of over reaction to what seems like a reasonable wheeze. If Grix can be got back playing more quickly by continuing to work with Wires medical staff and plays a few games he may to be important to a Wakey side staring down the barrel of relegation. If I were a Wakey fan I would expect them to do everything with in the rules to try and maintain Super League status. Ditto Warrington, I wonder if those so outraged by this little dodge / smart business move, would react if there was a way for us to bring in a hooker under similar circumstances. The deadline has passed but if it hadn't and we could have found a similar way to bring in cover for Aiton, I doubt many would have wanted us to pass up the chance because it was "against the spirit" etc'"
But Wire's medical won't be trying to get him fit for Wakey, why would they want to? He could risk picking up an injury and getting set back. No advantage to match fitness as that will be lost during the off season.
I would actually think it was a sh*tty tactic if Leeds loaned JJB or Sutcliffe to Wakey for the rest of the year.

It would be...but as Tomcat says we shouldn't be hypocritical here. If Leeds had bent these rules to get a now much needed hooker (Ballin or whoever) in; would we be complaining? Somehow i doubt it.

| It all makes tonight's Cas vs Warrington game more tasty.
All the aggro from the Westwood incident & now this.
Sandow only able to be brought over with the connivance of Cas's nearest neighbour & fellow citizens Wakefield.
What price on Carney flattening Sandow at the earliest opportunity?

But we haven't and I very seriously doubt that we ever would.
Should we not condemn murderers just on the off chance we might murder someone ourselves one day.

| On the assumption that what the OP has written is true IMO it puts Warrington on a level with Wigan. surely 'the spirit if the cap' should come into play?

Whoa there Printer! Don't go getting all tabloid on us
I haven't seen anyone do other than speculate about the Wire Wakey deal over Grix being a bit suspect in terms of ethics. IF they have broken the laws of the game then I'm sure that the RFL will deal accordingly. But as far as I can tell no one has anything but suspicions that they have been a bit sly and not stuck to the spirit of the game.
Oh and how do you know we haven't fudged the edges, I seem to recall some fuss over our arrangements with certain younger squad members and our partner clubs in lower divisions, earlier in the season.
I don't condone the actions of either club but neither do I condemn them out of hand, there's a fine line and all that.

I agree but never compared it to that and was just giving another example of an extra attached to a player been transferred from one club to another.
However I also don't see the problem with whats happened here.

| if e would have been for for at least a couple of games its not a problem. however he won't be fit till next season. they may not have cheated the cap but they have certainly circumnavigated it.

Imagine this scenario. Castleford agree to to take the injured Campese on loan for the rest of the season from Hull KR, who will fight out a relegation battle with Wakey. Hull KR then sign a good Aussie half back who plays against and condemns Wakey to relegation from the top flight. Cas gain nothing tangible from the deal but spitefully consign their neighbours to the Championship anyway. Imagine the river of tears from another moaning Wakefield chairman that claims the whole of Rugby League is against them. I've had my fill of Wakefield people moaning about rules, regs, ethics and bias. They have lost any future credibility with this tawdry deal. Come on Cas !

Maybe we should step away from the glass house before throwing those sorts of stones?'"
How many injured players have we sent to clubs to circumvent the salary cap ? How many clubs have "signed" a player that is facked and will never play for them? What a stupid comparison. If clubs are going to join up and form alliances then let's get it out in the open and see who we can "merge" with. Rugby League is becoming the most unethical sport going. How anyone can slag football off when you have seen what has been happening in our own sport is deluded.
