God I hope not.
I'd rather have a season of Sutcliffe and McGuire than sign Sandow. Talented, but incredibly lazy.

Great if true but how accurate is your source of this information?

He was highly rated when he moved to Brisbane but obviously it hasn't happened for him there. www.couriermail.com.au/sport/nrl ... 6990115240
Probably available now as the Broncos are willing to release him. Seems like an Achurch-type signing.

| There's a video of him scoring an impressive try in the NRL 9s on Youtube. Looks big, mobile, decent hands.
Have to wonder why it's not gone for him at Brisbane though, he's slipped right down the pecking order there this year.

| Id be disappointed in that signing. I see no point why any club, especially one of SL's premier clubs like us, should be wasting squad space on NRL also-rans. I think the only reason we should be bringing in NRL players is if they are something special. There is a chance that we go in to next season with 6 overseas players and only one of them having realistically made it in the NRL.
We should be better and demand more than 26 year old reserve graders.

| Garbutt was seen as a rising star before joining the Broncos, but the Storm have a history of forwards looking great for them (highly structured team with the best and most experienced playmakers in the NRL) who revert to useless elsewhere. Having said that, Wayne Bennett also has a history of dumping players who aren't that bad when arriving at a new club, probably to send a message to the rest of the squad.
Seems to me as though Leeds are going for a numbers game and hoping one or more of these 'project' forwards improves out of sight. Its possible and I suppose they may feel its better than trying to break the bank for a couple of stars. I can't really say its a strategy that has been that successful in the past - the reality is that by mid 20s you tend to get what you pay for.

| i suppose it's down to who else we sign. if we sign a lot of quality he could be a good signing squad wise. however if all we are going to get are players of his level then then the overall standard of the squad will be very poor

Thing is if they go out and sign a quality prop aswell, how do you fit them all in? I agree with Smokey.
The Huddersfield lad should have been the squad player, with Baldwinson and Mulhurn coming through. We need quality ahead of them, and this type of signing isn't proven quality.
Unless it is just numbers up front and the quality will be half back and backrow.

| Well as mentioned he's available immediately so that's answered some of your questions and it's not like we don't need some decent cover.

| For me i see him more as Kylies replacement many were underwhelmed when we bought him and i still think/hope we'll bring another Prop in.
I see our 4 props as being Singleton Garbutt New Signing Mullally with the likes of Baldwinson/Mulhern as back up/rotation i think Cuthbertson will move into the BR but is still a good FR option.
I'd expect Yates to be released and i wouldn't be surprised to see Jjb and Achurch go in the next 12mths.
There is scope for 1 or more big forwards to come in imo then we could even see Mulhern spending a full yr on loan ala Baldwinson.

The "new signing" part of that would have to be something spectacular for that foursome to be adequate for a side with ambitions of winning things, as none of the other three are good enough to do it IMO.

Throw AC in as an option mate i don't think it's that bad if we get the rotation etc right we need a top quality FR no doubts at all but you just don't replace JP which is where they will need Coaching/Managing properly.
