Yeah, he's almost as unbiased as Barrie McDermott who is even still involved with the Leeds club and allowed to commentate on their games.

Personally, I don't think there is anything wrong with commentators or journalists openly following a team an even having a slight positive bias towards that team. As long as it doesn't go over the top, or turn in to negative bias against any other team, then no problem in my eyes.

I make no secret of my support for York in some of the features I write where its relevant, but I would never dream of openly slagging off Hunslet, for example (I would maybe cheekily cheer on their opponents but thats as far as it goes).

And my match reports are always straight down the line, even for York on their own website.

And yet isn't unduly biased toward Leeds or against any other team. He's also a former Wigan & Widnes player.
The likes of Clarke, Cullen & O'Connor should take note.

Think McDermott does a good job. He obviously has his strong Leeds connection and talks strongly of them like Clarke does with Wigan. The difference is McDermott doesn't let that effect his commentary and views on the other teams whereas Clarke does.

I like Carney, McDermott & O'Conner, the rest are cr*p.

Eddy H is past it, far too many mistakes.

I think O'Connor is awful. He can't speak well enough and usually just comes out with cliches. Also he has a habit of almost rabidly defending his former teams, especially Widnes, and his friends. A good example being the recent Gareth Hock incident. O'Connor was embarrassing on Boots n All defending Hock. We'd just been played the video of Hock charging the ref. Even the most ardent defender of Hock would say he didn't do enough to avoid the contact. But Terry believed it was entirely accidental, Hock didn't change his line and didn't dip his shoulder. In complete contradiction to the video we'd just been shown.
He should be consigned to doing daft, "fun" segments on Boots n All at the most.

It's not a criticism of him as a man, he's just rubbish on TV and I've never quite understood why he's been given so much responsibility and airtime on Sky.

Carney & Wells are the saviours. Their, all too brief, analysis of each half is the high point by a country mile. I also prefer Carney as main presenter now too.
If Sky could just keep Eddie to commentating and not attempted analysis, or droning on about the same thing over and over again, or massively over-hyping one player that'd be a great start. Because when he commentates he's pretty good in my opinion.
Stevo can be a bit annoying sometimes, but he still gets a bit of a pass because he's a legend.
Clarke, I just wish he would stop trying to be the fan of one team or another and be a professional. If he did he'd have some decent points to make.

That'd do then for me.
Carney as main presenter.
Eddie & Stevo as commentators only, with maybe Clarke as a 3rd if he can be more professional.
And a studio guest to discuss the game with Carney and Wells' analysis bit too.

Simples. No need for anyone else. Too many times the commentary team is a discussion group, so get rid of 1 or 2 of them and concentrate on commentating.

What this shows is Eddie's insecurity - when it looked like Carney was the rising star Eddie did everything to belittle and embarrass him. Now Carney is in his box and not a threat he has left him alone. Clarke is his next target - Eddie has had his day and it is embarrassing to see him clinging on like this

eddie should be gone. he's past his sell by date.
