Wasn't that the try at Wigan where he knocked on then kicked it?

| I'm going to come right out and say this: how is it possible to watch rugby of either code for any length of time and not know this?

| I've never heard it mentioned, I've never heard anyone talk about it, I've never read the rule book end to end.
Take your pick. If I didn't know I didn't know. I asked a simple question and received a simple answer. There's no need to be an @rse about it,

I'm very surprised too. It's one of those things I just thought everybody knew or would have picked up on when watching games and seeing drop goals on TV etc.

IIRC they said after the game that the try should have been awarded.
I think in that case it should have been play on as he was intending to kick it, compared to (for instance) the Saints try disallowed v Leeds this year where the Saints player dropped the ball onto his leg with no intention to kick it.

Touchy. I was just expressing surprise. You were not the only one who didn't know. That was what surprised me.
Remove chip from shoulder. Breathe. Relax. Repeat with other shoulder.

| No chip on my shoulder. I just didn't think your post was necessary. Like I said, it was a simple question, received a simple answer, some people were discussing it, all was well.
Posting a "can't believe you didn't know that" comment a week later serves no purpose other than belittling people.

| Quote: Him "No, otherwise every drop goal would be given as a knock on. In RL intention is everything, if you drop the ball with intention of performing a drop kick then it's play on, if you drop the ball while intending to retain possession then it's a knock on.
That's why it's not a knock-on when players allow the ball to hit their body from a kick off for instance.'"
No, that's because it has to come off your arms or hands to be a knock on; body, legs or head is fine. Also I think the point of a drop kick is that it hits the ground and you kick it simultaneously. If it bounces before you kick it it's a knock on (assuming you're facing the opponents line).

| thought it was a knock on now if it came off your head after a player headed the ball forward for someone to score couple of seasons ago?

Against Bradford play on was ruled after ball hit head but think it became illegal to deliberately head it when sts used to do it as a planned move with pickavance
Hull kr got the flying wedge banned
the wall move was just realised to be poor
