But if it generates a bit of publicity and revenue for the clubs and/or the sport, then why the jolly well not? Nobody has to buy it.

I haven't bought a strip since the John Holmes one. I like this one because its daft and suggests that the game isn't taking itself too seriously. Which considering both sides will be trying to lose , is just as well.

Less convenient for Leeds Building Society, who find themselves relegated to a gimmick on the bottom of the shirt.

Be interested to know whose idea this actually was - whether the distributors of Man of Steel have approached the RFL and both clubs have been told it's happening, or the clubs have initiated it themselves.

It's only a big link up if Warner Bros get behind it and arrange some national media publicity outside the RL trade press and websites.
If the only people who know it's happening are existing RL fans, then the only winners out of it are WB who get free publicity for the DVD/Blu Ray.

It's only Warner Bros & a symbol recognisable worldwide that's on the shirts of two Super League clubs.
Melbourne linked up through News & 21st Century Fox, Souths through Russell Crowe.
Have you any idea how precious Warner Bros are with allowing use of it's Superman logo?
Sam Tomkins interviewed Crowe & henry Cavill at the UK premiere. This was available to 10m Sky subscribers in the UK.
Warner Bros aren't in this to promote rugby league. it is up to rugby league to do that,
Still, it's better to knock & denigrate than talk up our own Supermen, eh?? |
