| If Phil Clarke wants lessons in how to conduct yourself with good grace and impartiality, he only has to look at Messrs O'Connor and McDermott. I've seen both involved in games that feature their former clubs, and while there may be people out there who are better at putting their thoughts across in the heat of the moment, not once have I ever heard either of them sink to Clarke's level of bias.
Anyone defending it on the basis that "oh well, he used to play for Wigan what do you expect?" is missing the point in spectacular fashion.

| 100% agree AG.
Also watching Origin and listening to to the past greats of both sides none them show that amount of bias or bile.

| Whatever happened to "all commentators to remaining impartial and unbiased when giving their views on a game"? Sure Murray Walker got a slating for hinting at being unbiased one race.
To be honest Radio Leeds is getting bad... that Jamie Bloom last night was ridiculous saying how you beat Leeds and the best way to catch Leeds out etc etc..... the whole thing has become a precesion now. I literally watched the SKY game last night with large parts muted!

| I have just watched my recording of last nights widnes Wigan game, one of wigans try's was referred to the video official . The try was more or less identical to Danny Mc Guires disallowed try against Wigan , to my surprise Stevos said absolutely no try as its the same as Mc Guires in the magic weekend game.
Full credit to him, the try was awarded, as they say go figure.

The term "1 rule for 1 team and 1 rule for another" is clearly applied here....
I thought Stuart Cummings was meant to be sorting out referee decisions?
Load of biased officiating to go with the biased commentary!!

The "try" in question was the game changer for Wigan coming just after Widnes had a try ruled out that would have finished the game.
The Wigan dummy runner ran straight at the defender and collided with him. I guess what had to be decided was did the defender take the wrong runner or did the runner target the defender and take him out?
The dummy runner was so far in front of the ball it was inconceivable that the defender would consider him a possible ball carrier and you could see the Widnes defender didn't move towards him. In this case the Wigan runner targeted the defender and ran into him knocking him off balance. In a drift defence the Widnes player would have had plenty of time to shuffle sideways to take the ball carrier but he couldn't. That left the big hole for the Wigan player to run through.
The video ref looked at it several times and IMO made completely the wrong decision.
Wigan pass the ball behind dummy screening runners all the time and mostly they do not make contact with defenders, it's just good attacking play. The difference is obvious between a dummy runner confusing the defence and a dummy runner targetting and colliding with a defender.
The quality and consistency bing offered up by our officials sat in a box with all the time in the world to make a decision is frankly appalling.

| Quote: Wellsy13 "I think Cummins' way of putting it was "if the player receives the ball on the inside shoulder of the dummy runner and runs around the back to the outside shoulder, it's obstruction; but if he receives it on the outside shoulder it's fine."
Basically, you can pass behind the dummy runner, but you can't run behind him. It's pretty simple. The incident last night and against Leeds are completely different.'"
From the VT, and absolutely spot on.

I find it quite funny that a Leeds fan is commenting on a game on t.v. when his own team are playing at home. If you had gone there you could have been eulogising about the return of a 35 year old instead of watching a young team (average age 21/22) stay at the top of the table.

I also found it funny watching the anxiety among the Wigan fans and bench as they rather fortunately defeated an injury hit Widnes side.

This leeds fan had family commitements last night "wife's birthday" and have spent fortunes following my team so in between burning the sausages on the Barbie I kept on eye on the telly watching the pies get 100 percent of the 50/50s
And listening to the clown clarke turning himself inside out with joy .

So you didn't see all the game?
So how do you know Wigan got all the 50/50 calls.
Oh you did say you had one eye on the game, that would be your Leeds eye wouldn't it.
And you could have took your wife to the Leeds game and a meal.

| Clarke, creams himself over Wigan and makes many Pies wince as well, but he seldom says anything bad about anyone else, in fact he is very positive (Cue someone raising the "Rugby gods" comment) about all teams.
Hemmings and Stevo, are clearly biased against Wigan, but this won't be noticed by fans of most other teams, as they are as well...... Which we all love!!

They certainly got the call on the Gelling try, or didn’t you see it?
Phil Clarke usually plays devils advocate following the scoring of a try, but was very quiet in not noticing the double knock on (John Clark/George Williams ) and Goulding’s offside pickup in the build up to Gelling's first half try.

I was watching a Leeds team last night with young players like Minns (or is it Mimms), Sutcliffe, Sinlgleton and Keinhorst. A team with about 12 or 13 who came through our Academy and at least three other British players. Not sure which of those youngsters were part of the "worst generation of youngster" that you proclaimed but your obsession with the age of our champion team is duly noted.
