| Quote: Harrigan "TBF I havent watched a second of it this year. I didnt even realise the England/Wales game was today. I was just commenting on home advantage being key in years gone by when a decider has been played.
On another note too, who likes to see their national teamlose at anything? Im not pro Union, Im not anti union. I played it for years at school and enjoyed every second of it. I never buy into Leaguies having so much hatred for union and I think it boils down to jealousy of crowds/revenue/exposure. ATEOTD they are 2 totally separate sports with the only real similarity being the shape of the ball and a few positional names here and there. I have no real connection to the National Union team as I have never enjoyed watching the sport, but I certainly dont take any satisfaction out of a national team losing at any sport just because it isn't Rugby League.'"
I appreciate that. I played union for years, I coach kids, I'm heavily involved with our local club and my lad plays so it's a big part of my life. I can understand some of the anti-Union feelings amongst league fans, and you are correct, it's a different sport (with some very similar skills though) and it's not eveyone's cup of tea. At Under 10 level my lad practically plays RL, they hit the ball up hard and they tackle hard and move the ball around a lot. I even use RL as a coaching game.
I don't want England to lose, particulalry as half the guys I know at our club are Welsh and as part of our tour celebrations last year I made two of the Welsh lads in our team wear and England shirt and sing "Sweet Chariot" to their Dad's. On the other hand I have a bet with a couple of my ex-pat workmates in the US (one English the other Irish) on who the Lions Captain will be and had England won Chris Robshaw may have gotten the nod. There's some money on this and I'm from Yorkshire etc. etc.

| It was nice to hear league defensive coaches getting some praise from Woodward at half time. Pity they aren't coaching in league though, eh?!

He employed Phil Larder, one of the most astute British league coaches.

One of the best decisions Woodward ever made.

If you don't bother to go to the game when you live in the locality then you are not really a fan and therefore your views are invalid. It's simple.:icons39ad_files/4821-1859san_c-msnicons.jpg |

My only real interest in Union is in hearing about England getting beat.

How short sighted were/are English Rugby League.
Edwards would have made a suberb RL coach.
Maybe one day.

| It takes two to tango - do you (Rogues) have a particular club in mind?
League doesn't really have an international aspect to occupy a top coach full-time - without treading on the toes of the club coaches - which I guess explains why we have a relative no-mark currently in charge of our national side.

Lovely stuff
It's always fun.
I watched the last 20 mins of the Wales v England game, whenever I get dispirited about rugby league's or Leeds' lack of creativity or attacking flair* then I only need to watch a small amount of Union to bring me some perspective.
* or tackling, defence, passing and handling, lines of running and even kicking these days

| Of all the players from the world cup winning team the one player they miss the most is Will Greenwood, the current England centres offer nothing and although Barritt will tackle anything but you need more at this level and Tuilangi is a strong runner but again is very one dimensional. To be fair though the back three are average as well, Ashton has been terrible in this in this 6 nations and has been found out big style, Goode is a fat cart horse who offers nothing from full back and Brown is playing out of position. I'm also not sure why Owen Farrell seems so highly rated, the 'related to panface syndrome' perhaps?
On a side note I think George North would be a superb RL player.

| Good goal-kicker apparently as his 1 from 3 bears amply testament to. What's Sinfield for Leeds since the start of the play-offs in 2012 - 48 from 49 (98%)
I noted as someone said earlier that the MOTM made 4 carries for 35 meters in total (most of those presumably came from the break for the second/final try) and a monumental 8 tackles....... outstanding effort
Meanwhile at the same time in a proper game of rugby taking place in Huddersfield, Danny Houghton was making 65 tackles and plenty of other as yet unstatified contributions.
Back at the other event the referee was penalising virtually every scrum and at one point was telling the England hooker the precise blade of grass he had to stand on and woe-betide him if he chose to stand on even the one next to it. It took three attempts and he still managed to find an infringement somewhere for something or other..... against England obviously.
