This week: Four keys to a Rhinos win in the WCC:Transparent Backgrounds/Waldorf.gif |

| A year playing in SL will benefit him - and potentially the club - massively.
It's been made clear to him that Leeds believe he has a future with them, but he isn't going to see a lot of game time next year. IIRC he doesn't qualify for the Under 19s competition any more(?), so he would either be kicking his heels at Leeds or on dual reg in the Championship somewhere if he didn't go out on loan.
Realistically, with Ablett moving back into the pack and Bailey shifting to prop permanently he's probably fifth or sixth choice for four positions. Barring long term injuries to one of the other front rowers at the club, he might only get half a dozen games next year, tops. That doesn't do anything for his development, he needs to be playing in SL week in, week out.
From a physical development standpoint, I hope he doesn't try to bulk up too much. He has excellent hands and mobility for a front rower, and I can see him being most effective if he aims to be similar in body shape to someone like James Graham.

| Post GF the coaches spoke about more rotation and learning lessons from the season past this to me points to just the opposite.
For all those pointing out the perceived "positives" see Amor last year and imo we missed out on a decent young prop.
Singleton offers more than Kirke and can do longer minutes in the positions Kirke covers ,Kylie was on his last knockings last year so god knows what we are gonna squeeze out of him this year.
Brian Mc didn't give Griffin enough game-time instead choosing to flog old man JP who although finished the season in strong form looked his 36 yrs old on many occasions last season often getting battered and out-muscled by youbnger opponents.
That leaves us the unfancied Moore and Bailey!!!
I appreciate the likes of Kylie ,JP and even Kirke to a certain extent for what they have doen whilst here but when do you say enough is enough???
As for yesterday Singleton was very effective and showed more than enough that he's ready for a go at SL level.

| Jp & kylie will be first choice again this year, we may see more game time from a hopefully improved griffin next year (underwhelming signing so far). Bailey will be back to prop. that leaves Kirke (underrated good value player) and Moore. Achurch is a second row from what i have seen more of a matt Adamson Trent Waterhouse type player than a prop. so on reflection to let singleton get more game time at wakey in super league and leave moore as are last resort prop, probably may turn out best in the long run.
so 6 props to choice from and possibly 2-3 second rowers who can do the odd spell, should see us through.

| Cannot believe it this happens, for at least two years it has been clear we need young blood in the forwards, yes JP etc will turn it on in the big games, but what about the likes of the Huddersfield, Wakefield games. We need plays like Brad, also his presence puts pressure on the starting 13. He should be playing for Leeds not Wakefield on loan, according to A Dewsbury supporter he was ripping up trees for them back end of last year. We need Brad not journey men like Richard Moore who was not good enough first time around.
I am already starting to question before the season has started whether the coach knows what he his doing.

The thing Singleton needs this season is game time at super league level. If going out to another SL club on loan in order to get that opportunity is what is required then fair enough in my book.
Maybe the coach does know what he is doing and realises that at this time we have more than enough forwards on the books and the young lad would struggle to get a place in the squad this season. So rather than letting him rot has acted swiftly and found him a club in need of an extra forward thus giving him this opportunity.
Just a thought

| MCD did say in the YEP article that singo has a future with us but atm he needs to be playing week in week out, i think he'll go well at wakey and come back and replace kirke at the end of next season.

| If you look at the team we have, Danny, Rob, Kev were not put out on loan they learnt how to play in the first team. We need fresh blood in the forwards I feel it is a mistake and if he goes on loan he will not come back.
Big Mistake

3 half backs? Big difference to prop, plus the game has moved on in the last 10 years. Especially physically.
He's only 20, that's still very young for a prop. Sounds like a good idea to let him get experience and game time on loan than sat not even playing in our reserves with probably only 3 or 4 appearances for us.
We have Leuluai, Peacock, Griffin, Moore, Bailey and Kirke to play prop. A loan for a year at an SL club would seem ideal, then in 2014 move up the pecking order when Kylie retires.

| Amor is a much better prop than Griffin and Moore. And also has few years on peacock so why didn't Amor end up back at Leeds. It could be a bad move for you loaning him to us.

| Aren't Kylie, Kirke and JP out of contract next year?
If so, let Singleton get some games under his belt in readiness for 2014

I think that should happen this year with us mate.
I don't think JP ,kylie and the inconsistent Kirke more the latter 2 are up to week in week out SL as they proved last year and i certainly wouldn't have Kylie and JP in the same 17 anymore.
I accept he's still a pup and raw but his undoubted potential should be enhanced with us now and not make the same mistake we made with Amor.

| Can look at it two ways really,
disappointing that he isnt getting first team games with us this season
or, its an indication that the loss of JP, Kirke and Kylie next year means that the coaches want and expect Singleton to be making a significant contribution next year. 20/25 games getting plenty of minutes at the coalface at Wakefield will better prepare Singleton to be a frontline prop for Leeds next year, than getting 10 games when the likes of JP, and Kylie have taken the lead.

| I'm surprised that Leeds have opted to eke another year out of JP and Kylie; I've got huge respect for both of them, but you can only get so much juice out of one orange.
Moore and Griffin at Leeds I've never quite understood - both are inconsistent, for different reasons; Moore is a workhorse but with very limited ability and Griffin is capable but lazy. In my view, both are too long in the tooth to learn new tricks.
All that said, with so many forwards on the books, Singleton to us seems like a good deal all round; we need cover in the forwards and he needs game time - if he turns out to be anything like Amor, I'd hope that we'd make a play for him for next season but for now, a decent bit of business, certainly from our point of view.

| Good move for all involve.
As some have stated he will be way down in the pecking order for leeds with kylie, jp, griffin, moore, bailey, kirke and achurch... Where as hell be 5th choice at Wakey and could easily get in the first team with injuries etc.
Wakey get a good young player.
Leeds get their player first team games.
Singleton gets game time.
Win win situation
