No offense to Andy but himself & the likes of Lydon, Hanley, Platt, Bell, Edwards, Botica, Skerrett, Farrell, Offiah & Robinson would walk into this present Wigan team.

So this is what BMD has been using as a training video ...

| Leeds fans can't take critisism when they are having a lean spell. Just face it you are an average side this season, you have fallen behind the front runners. You will come again, you are a big club. But Schoey (who I dont like ) has spoken some home truths in that article.

Yes but he talks just as much poop on occasions.
I just read in RL World where Greg says that had Sculthorpe been in the GB team in 1990 we'd have won the Ashes. No way.

He was a special player, highly rated but still under rated in my book.

| That's the problem with Schoie.
Every single time someone trys to offer a reasonable counter argument to his cringeworthy behaviour how many times is the word 'was' used?
'In his day Schoie WAS X, Y + Z'.
'WAS a legend'
Any compliments about him as Schofielld The Man in 2012? can't see one myself.

Maybe. Unfortunately for Rent-a-gob he's been spewing forth these same "home truths" for rather a long time, back to doing it about a side that would spit it back in his face by winning 3 titles on the bounce. So I'm afraid I've stopped taking any notice.

Really?? There are plenty of fans whose criticisms are far harsher than those of Garry Schofield.

If Leeds are having a lean spell (Current Champions, Current World Club Champions and 1 game from the Challenge Cup Final) then the rest of the league are leaner than a Palestinian footballer.

I watched some moments of greatness from Schoey, but I also suffered some half hearted rubbish.'"
What did Hanley win after he had joined Leeds?
Did he become a loser by signing for Leeds?

The respect and admiration of everyone around him, unlike Schofield.
Quote: sally cinnamon "Did he become a loser by signing for Leeds?'" Nope, can't undo what had been done. He had won. He was a winner. Unlike Schoey.

| Hanley also broke the world record tries by a forward whilst at Leeds, and even though on the decline I doubt anyone who watched him play for Leeds ever thought that he didn't give 100% or look a world class player. Schofield during that same period went from being easily GB's best stand off to being moved to scrum half to accommodate the awesome Graham Holroyd.
A real shame IMO. Shoey was a genuinely gifted player, but his career tailed off badly at the end - to the extent that when he left I don't remember there being huge gnashing of teeth about it. He should be far more revered as a club legend than he is. That's what I have against him - I couldn't care less what he's like off the field.

| I've only just read his comments .... Putting aside who it is making the comments, I believe he is fundamentally correct. It doesn't explain, however, how he can exonerate Mcdermott when he is responsible for the positional choices ??

| I can't be bothered reading his comments. THey may be right, but only on the premise that if you keep saying the same thing over and over again in sport, statistically it is likely that it will at some stage become true. The fact that he's said it all before and been proved embarrassingly wrong gives me cause not to listen to his views on RL anymore.
I very much enjoyed watching him as a player, he had tons of ability but perhaps lacked the mental edge to lead a side to great things, despite achieving great things as an individual. There are players of less natural ability in the current Leeds squad who have managed to deliver far more in a Leeds shirt than he did. Sad for him, but true.
Oh, and the above-mentioned tailing off in his career was characterised by an inverse relationship between match-effectiveness and mass....

| In Schofield's era, you had to be number 1 to call yourself Champions, not like today where finishing 5th can still get your hands on the same trophy.
