True.....BUT nobody should try to debilitate Sinfield's achievement. It could not happen to a more deserving guy. As others have stated he is a model professional, outstanding captain and a perfect role model. He has no exceptional world beating qualities, but his average skills are complemented and surpassed by his rare invaluable, always-ready-to-hold-his-hand-up 'presence' that never fails to inspire others around him.
A privilege to watch his place in history been cemented.

Lewis scored 1,244 goals, meaning 2488 points out of a total of 2920. That leaves 432 points from tries, at 3 points per try that's 144 tries.
I think Sir Kev's scored 68 tries, so that's 76 less than Lewis. Of course, all of Lewis' goals were worth 2 points, including drops, but there's no record of the breakdown there, so it makes direct comparisons pretty much impossible.
Oh, and a huge congratulation to Sir Kev, it'll be nice to say in years to come that I was there when the record fell and it's been a honour to watch him over the years

All valid points which you make there.
On the subject of points scoring records, my personal opinion (as I've opined several times before) is that records built up during the Super League era are exactly that... they are Super League records which ought to remain separate and distinct from all from other previous records. On that basis, Sinfield broke the 'Rhinos' points scoring record a long time ago.
It's an entirely different game these days in so many aspects with little to no contest for possession and an emphasis on creating conditions/rules changes favouring attacks and the amassing of points in the name of 'entertainment'. The Super League era also defines itself by it's lack of competitiveness - where a handful of top clubs are almost guaranteed 2 easy games out of every 3 which provides further opportunities to amass both team and individual points.
Then there's the switch to summer rugby playing in more favourable weather conditions along with the utilisation of modern technology like kicking tees, better playing surfaces.

37727.jpg And last but not least, to all those people that wrote this team off, to all those people that criticized this team...tonight's for you, thank you.
I'll tell you this now, of all the sportsmen I have ever seen, this guy is the most impressive. Clare Balding 6/10/12:37727.jpg |

Totally agree..if only all profesional sportsmen behaved this way..I feel priviledged to have watched Kevin Sinfield play. I remember his first try at Huddersfield, Iestyn Harris bust a gut that day to get him in. Hopefully our youth system is in the process of producing a new hero.
