| Regardless of who we put in we'll still fair poorly, so I would prefer given that thought, that we'd do it with homegrown players, rather than imports who do it to boost their career rather than play for any love of the country

| Some real backward and insular thoughts being posted on here (shock horror).
What is an Englishman? When is Chase entitled to feel that this is "his country"?
Have you read his quotes? He doesn't return to NZ in the off season. he lives here, he works here, he has an English girlfriend and plans to stay here in the future. I know it may not fit an EDL or BNP definition but doesn't that make him English if he feels English?
The Aussies and New Zealanders have done this for many, many years with South Sea Islanders.
I see no issue other than, as Bloodbath points out, his form hasn't actually been very good the 2nd half of the season.

Has the list been edited, because there was no-one on the list I read that was close this season. Otherwise your post was eminently sensible.

How do you define the "best"?
Is it the runner that sets off at an unsustainable pace, falling behind the pack at the last hurdle or the runner who paces himself properly, ultimately winning the race?
IMO, the team who comes top of the league table is not the best unless and until they win the GF. They're the most consistent in qualification for the playoffs but the best will properly be determined Saturday night.

He's obviously only got round to considering it "his country" pretty recentlyhttp://www.nzherald.co.nz/warriors-league-team/news/article.cfm?c_id

I'm in agreement with you on this.
I think people were incredibly unfair on the team getting to the Challenge cup final, saying we had an easy run, which was bull, we played Super League teams all the way through, regardless of how they are rated.
What we have achieved in getting to the grand final from the position we were and the teams we have played is superb.
I have to be honest, and it maybe easy to say because it's already been achieved, but I will take even more satisfaction out of winning the GF this year, than what I did in 2004. Winning this year would show incredible resolve, incredible spirit, incredible togetherness, and would quite rightly be correct to claim to be the best.

Cringe.
That is a bit embarrassing. I maintain I have no issue with selecting player's like Chase in principle. However, when you read stuff like this it does make you wonder if the basis of being honoured by playing for England is really that you've been told you're not good enough for NZ.

| Warrington: Myler
Leeds: McGuire, Burrow, Sinfield
Saints: Gaskell, Lomax, Pryce
Huddersfield: Brough, Brown, Robinson
Wigan: Tomkins
Five of the top english teams all have English players that can play in that position, its ridiculous. And then you have Melbourne Storm with Widdop.

| I'm fully behind anyone who plays for England, if they are eligible according to the rules.
What doesn't seem right, which has been aluded to, is he stated a while back his ambition was to play for NZ.
The current 'English' stand offs must be a little peeved with this announcement, that their chances of playing have seemingly been diminished a little

Excellent stuff. That was 4 months ago. Clearly he's drunk a whole lot of tea and done a whole lot of queueing in the past 4 months. I've heard reports he's even been moaning about the weather and has bought the Fawlty Towers box set. People change man. Cut him some slack.
