| imo we do need to sign some kind of creative half back . i do however like having burrow or mcguire coming off the bench and running at a more tired defensive line burrow especially looks more dangerous when coming off the bench

| I still prefer McGuire at 6, Burrow at 7 and Sinfield at 13. Messing around with playmakers during a game always seems a bit pointless, and makes fluent combinations more difficult.
However, given that McShane seems to be out of the picture at present, I suppose we are struggling for other options.

Assuming Buderus returns to Australia, Leeds are going to have a real problem next season.
McShane, Hood or Burrow at hooker?
Oh dear.

| It's Daryl Powell all over again. Some players who will obviously have to play a bigger role next season simply not getting picked this year. If McShane is to take over then he ought to be on the bench every week regardless of the odd blip in form.
Having said that, if BM believes that his only chance to keep his job is to do as well as possible this year, its hard to blame him.

| The way Burrow is being used to spell Buderus at the moment is interesting and frees up what would likely as not be a cameo role for McShane from the bench. For parts Burrow is in his element ..... and for the rest he's still contributing while putting in a wholehearted eighty minutes.

| And yet again Leeds lost their shape whilst Buderus was off the pitch. I don't understand why he is subbed after 28 mins every week. Rob Burrow is not a hooker!

| If Burrow starts at halfback and is rotated with Buderus at hooker its even worse, because it means McGuire has to move to 7, and Sinfield to 6 as well. That's why I don't like it. If BM wants Burrow to come off the bench to be hooker that's less of an issue TBH, although I would still prefer a specialist in that role with Burrow having the odd dart.

| Agreed, either play Buderus for 80 or have McShane on the bench. Seems a bit pointless having a half back among the subs.

| Buderus is playing at a higher tempo than the others around him and perhaps, just perhaps mind, he's only able to do that in 28 minute spells? If a hooker such as McShane is on the bench just used to spell Buderus he'll end up with little game time and that is not an effective use of a bench spot as I see it.
Burrow's best moments yesterday came scampering out of dummy half but he was also a consistent threat throughout. When he's in at first or second receiver for the duration his running game is more or less lost as he just looks to send the ball out the back to Webb most of the time. Mixing his role up during the eighty has brought him back in to the game.

and, if I'm not mistaken, he packed down in the 2nd row when Clarkson came back on the field.
The versatility and leadership of the man is unquestionable.
How he's been ignored for Man of Steel beggars belief.

| Whoooaaa there.
I believe the OP was simply suggesting that Sinny is not a world class standoff. I happen to agree.
I dont think anyone can question Sinnys committment or desire but he is not a great standoff. When the ball comes his way it slows down and he doesn't have the natural pace off the mark to get through a gap.
The ideal partnership is clearly Mags and Burrow with Sinny dictating from 13. The obvious problem is that mags has struggled this season.

Not big enough to play 6 IMO.

There's really no place for the likes of you on Substandard. [/quote:1x8x7ghm]:7098.jpg |

| I can't believe our fool of a coach is still picking Sinfield at stand off. What a terrible decision. I could almost understand it if he'd won a Grand Final playing there, or maybe a GB cap, or even dragged our club through the first couple of months of the season from that position.
As it is I think Hardaker should be there every week - he has all the attributes and iss clearly going to be a world class stand off who will go on to dominate in the NRL where others such as Inglis have struggled to make the transition from the outside backs.
Sinfield should go back to playing at loose forward where he plays the game completely differently and doesn't look to influence the game like a half back at all.

Unless your irony was too subtle even for me, where a player packs down at a scrum is no indicator of position any more.
As with most SL clubs, Leeds pack their full back at loose forward and their blind side centre in the second row when defending scrums
