Actually, the black club badge / city crest was only done on 'special' shirts like the cup final ones (Such as '68, '77 & '78 etc.) whilst the normal week to week league shirt was unbadged for most of the 70s.

I note that the shirts are 'authentic' yet 'polyester' ... I own a shirt from that the 80s and certainly if you had a look at Graham Eccles old shirt hung in the club, the material of the shirts of that era were most certainly a heavy playing-weight cotton type material.

Bingo - I have a '71 final shirt and my mate has an extremely coveted '68 final shirt (which will be mine one day - ha ha ha). Both are manufactured from very heavyweight cotton. To make these replica shirts truly authentic they would need to be of a similar standard. But then again they probably wouldn't retail for £28 if they were.

The watersplash final replica shirt was some ridiculous price like 70 quid iirc. And that was in 2003.

Whilst I have nothing against polyester, when it actually comes to wearing them you do ....

The big old playing weight cotton shirts were designed to be worn next to the skin with no undershirt or similar on and thus, by the nature of the material, didn't rub certain sensative parts of the anatomy.

A lot of 'modern' man-made fibre shirts really need one of those base layer type vests underneath them to make them 'wearable' ....

On the other hand, you've got to say that they were really well made and also perhaps should be seen as an investment.

Consider the number of 'new' Leeds shirts that have been generated since then ... There's certainly been at least one home shirt per season and coupled with now the club going down the route of changing both kits each year.

The '68 classic Leeds shirt, the white away shirt that was available from certain sources icon_wink.gif and even these shirts won't age and won't need replacing each and every season.

Everyone still knows what team you support and furthermore, you've probably paid about a quarter to secure a classic shirt than you would have done changing the kits and buying a 'new' Leeds shirt every time the club changes it as a whim each season.

You've got your Rayne's mixed up, otherwise just remove the multiple question marks on the players.

The random 'gormless looking bloke' is Drew Broatch Leeds' A team coach at the time who was also a fine centre in his day.
