It's not how much talent you've got, it's what you do with it that counts.:1157.jpg

Both the squad and coaching team need attention, but a decent coach would make a significant improvement to our current level of performance. We also need to address the coaching front first as any decent coach would want some level of involvement with the recruitment of replacements in the squad too.

Is GH the type to do this? Has BM asked for the extensions given so far?

I agree that GH doesn't appear to have been the type to say "so coach, who do you want for next year?", but I do think that there will be discussions around which positions need strengthening with what type of player. There may even be a shortlist given to GH by the coach on who the possibles are.

Has BMD asked for the extensions given so far? I'd be pretty amazed if he hadn't been involved at all...

Bats, if we are going to recruit, you don't think it is too late anyway? This time of year is far too late for recruiting for following season. We will have players already agreed for next year, or we are not signing any. It does not matter whether we appoint another coach now or not.

No coach is going to take this squad any further than 5th anyway.

I do think it's too late to pick up the top quality overseas players, but not necessarily the GB based ones, however that would require transfer fees (the OoC ones worth having are signed up by now) and it's unlikely we will pay fees just at the moment with the other costs the business faces like the SS for example.

We have been known to "splash out" on marquee players before (Senior & Harris immediately spring to mind) but it's been a while since we adopted that approach. Personally I think we need some new blood that may already be contracted to other clubs and we need to persuade them to do a deal.

Is that complete supposition or do you have any reason to think that?

do you know what "doesn appear to have been" means? Don't you get paid for understanding the written word?

Oh and yes I do have some reason to think that, and you know who from if you think about it yourself.

If you make Friday's game look across the pitch. That stand will not be there next year. It's replacement will cost a few quid. We will have to pay for that ourselves. Unlike most clubs, we're in a position to do so.

Therefore, I doubt you will see any cash splashed and I reckon you should appreciate and understand why.

I do, but usually it is the English written word. Your quote isn't English.

If you're going to be a smart arris you might want to do a spell check.

We have to take a hit on the pitch for a couple of seasons while the stand get's sorted out.

Then again, do we have to ?

The fantastic thing about Graham Murray is that he builds fantastic team spirit and is able to get that 'little bit extra' from players.

Look at the players he developed in that awsome pack of the late 90s .... Anthony Farrell - A player who's career was on the slide when he arrived at Leeds. Darren Fleary - Another player who hadn't broken pots before Headingley and Andy Hay, who we all remember got a GB call up with GM around.

We're still a decent top four side, even with the Dad's Army pack, we just need someone to marshall it properly ... The sort of 'nasty b*stard' we had under Murray and the sort of thing I personally thought would be the thing BMD would sort out first.

We don't have to spend massive amounts in the playing dept. to get back to something like ... We used to try splashing the cash around in the 80s and it got us nowhere. Invest sensibly in a coach with an excellent past record in Murray and start building back up again from there.

Been to Featherstone today having a chat to some friends who are mad keen supporters they say GH as been seen quiet a lot at the ground of late. Could be watching a couple of players as they have quiet a few up and coming ones or just coincidence but they seem to think its D Powell he's after, any thoughts I always thought he was ok and he's certainly grown up here got a good squad together.

He'd be an improvement on Jedward!
