| Quote: batleyrhino "We were beaten by a team who have a coach that is light years ahead of ours. Warrington were very good, and even when we were holding them in the first half, we didn't really look as though we were structured, organised, had a gameplan or good technique.
We have forgotten everything that Smith coached us, and it shows. We continually lose collisions, we are forever disorganised on the last tackle, we have no shortage of effort but plenty of shortage of brains. Delaney works hard and can run some good lines, but needs to learn hoe to defend in a structure. We seriously lack go forward and composure, two key ingredients of a well coached team.
GH needs to look for a new coach for next year, because another year of this and people will lose interest.'"
Well, thats saved me some time as I agree with all of that.
A poor appointment that I didn't agree with, and not the answer going forward.
The team selection was bizarre, both in terms of personel and structure. The substitutions were bizarre, and the inability to get out of our own half in the second half quite incredible. We looked like an indisciplined pub team second half, didn't McDermott specificaly state he was going to fix this pre-season?
We have indeed forgotten everything Smith coached us.
There was a healthy attendance last night, the main driver for GH to take action must be the realisation that crowds like that will drop less year unless we can be competitive in such games.

Thats sums the guy up perfectly.
I notice the comments about Weller H- Mac likes middle of the road second rowers, Quins had a team full of them under him
The bench was mentioned. Mac would happily play a 2 man bench-he doesnt appear to appreciate the benefits of 4 on the bench
As for bizzare omissions from the team-Get used to that as that really is a trait of his. If someone speaks out of line in trg or does something he doesn't agree with then they can kiss there Ar*e good bye-he is a unintelligent manager who believes grunt wins games.
Thankfully we (Quins) a poor team got rid of him-I say that honestly- and speak on behalf of lots of Quins fans(not that there are lots!)

In Keith's superleague supermen interview, I think he said, they'd been trying to forget everything they'd been doing for the last seven years (or something to that effect). Well the contrast between the teams last night shows they've achieved that goal.
Man for man I don't think there is a 40 point difference in the teams, so can only conclude the obvious difference is the quality of the coaching. Warrington are starting to look like Leeds of old. I guess their problem now will be maintaining the form to the business end of the season.

Agreed. I don't even see any sign of improvement in his defence. At one stage he was maker
on our try line and was stood upright. If hooker had tried to burrow over he would have had no chance.
Apparantly biff and clarkson mcshane all rested?!!! You have to question the coaches thinking.
Clarkson great game last week then dropped this.
Has done similar thing to pitts this year as well!!

| Game plan?
When you've got Peacock kicking on the last tackle very early on in the game, it was already GAME OVER.

| Sorry, I thought I had wandered onto the Wire post-mortem thread on the Bulls forum just after they trashed US. The points seemed almost identical, so easy mistake to make.
As you were...

I imagine we are in danger of dropping out of your mini league on current showing. Who will be in our mid table table next year?

I think someone earlier in this thread (or possibly another one) quoted McDermott as saying that Burrow was on the bench because he has played a lot of game time this year.
If he is resting players for matches like this then doesn't it say that he feels it was a game we couldn't win so no point risking injuries? Surely we want all our best players on the pitch for as long as possible against the top teams. If anyone needed resting they should have been subbed early last week.
And please please please start with Ali on the bench not on the pitch. Surely last week against Quins showed he is miles better coming on against tired defences rather than starting.

If that's the case then lets see if he drops all the players last night who gave away penalties for back chatting the ref. Could be an interesting 17 next week!

That's a question well worth raising.
Is SL a 4-team competition this season rather than a 5-team competition?
The bookies still think it's a 5-team competition.
Latest SL odds:
WIGAN 11/8
WARRINGTON 15/8
ST HELENS 5/1
LEEDS 9/1
HUDDERSFIELD 10/1
*** DAYLIGHT***
THE RABBLE 40/1 TO 1000/1
