| So all accidental hands/arms contacting an opponent's head will be waved play on in future?
Yeah, good luck with that one.

| Ablett catching S. Tomkins last season they way he did was accidental due to Tompkins' slip
But most Wigan fans wanted him banned for life for that accidental, bungled attempt at a tackle

& hadn't he done it twice previously without any action from the ref?
Was what Lima did radically different from the tackle by Scott Moore that led to a one match ban?

| Have a look at this.
Lima doesn't attack the standing leg, it wasn't even a penalty.

Not held, still moving, leg off the ground when Lima went into tackle.
What the feck is this game coming to??'"

| the first tackle on hauraki was high and carmont came in and smacked him even higher. in my opinion it wasn't intentional but it was reckless and he deserves a week off

I didn't think what Lima did was so bad at the time (no worse than lots of other such instances) it was just unfortunate that Clarkson was twisted over by the combination of defenders after Lima had joined in at the side.

| ask yourself why so many people feel the need to lash out when tompkins is involved as a tackler?
one player, not a leeds player, tells me he isn't known as nipper because of his age

It would have been had he connected but as it is I'd ban him for missing.

| When Lima went in to the left leg of the Leeds player, the leg was off the ground. Ergo, commonly known as a "tackle".

I know all fans are biased but wigan fans with this and the whole McGuire and Ablett storms last year really do take it to an extreme.
What is so hard to understand...Lima drove his shoulder into an already held players legs, he makes no attempt whatsoever to make a tackle with his arms (as shown in that freeze frame he's dropped his tackling arm to drive in with the shoulder) - there is only one outcome if his technique (I shan't call it a tackle) had come off and that is a very very serious knee or leg injury.
As someone said on the VT, Lima could really have done pretty much anything else and it would have resulted in a completed dominant tackle without a penalty
It doesn't matter if Clarkson's leg is standing or if the first contact is above the knee - the intent was to cause injury and there is no need for that in the game. It was an absolutely cowardly attack.
I'd also add that I do martial arts and it's a well known fact that driving downwards into somebody's leg (in that context with a kick but here with a shoulder) tends to pin the foot to the ground - the leg then has to buckle and most likely its serious damage - it was only lucky that clarksons leg lifted slightly before the impact (through sheer chance)

Nathan Brown had his number back when he was at St George. Wigan have always been hard to like but this lot are up there in the s***house stakes.

| Carmonts was not reckless. Someone had already made the initial contact (Farrell I believe) which made Hauraki's head drop slightly from the force of the tackle which is why Carmonts tackle hit high. Wasn't intentional or reckless at all.
