| Taking the p1ss out of the Northern Rail Cup launch is nothing less than an all out assault on the fabric and traditions of our game.

You say that but Dewsbury Rams who are participating couldn't be bothered to send a representative, so what does that say about our game?

I was writing in jest, I can't imagine anyone getting excited about the launch. Having said that, your point about Dewsbury choosing not to send a rep is a valid one.

| See, Dewsbury Rams elected to stay home and stick pins in their eyes. No big deal.

| might be a so called mickey mouse cup but Dewsbury should be fined. Showing complete disregard and disrespect to competition sponsors and RFL is a disgrace in these hard times, when sponsors are not qeueing up to pump money into the sport.

Which is true, but I'm reminded of the time ten years ago when Iestyn Harris and Michael Owen were the only two sports players that Tissot offered sponsorship to and both had been asked to attend a studio in London for a photo shoot for Tissot's advertising, both to wear their country's shirts.
Harris's agent asked the RFL if they could provide a new GB shirt for the shoot but because the sponsorship was a private deal and had not been done through the RFL they refused, Iestyn had to take one of his own match-worn shirts which was creased and dirty when he arrived in London, in stark contrast to Owen who was supplied with full kit by the FA, Tissot apparently weren't very impressed.
I suppose its hard for teams to show respect to sponsors when the RFL won't jump any hurdles either.

To quote an example from 10 years ago is no indication that the same applies today.
We now have a completely different RFL organisation from those days precisely because of the that unprofessional kind of behaviour.

| Rugby League fans in knowing their place and not daring to be offended at the differing standards applied to our game than others by the Southern based media......shocker. Some of you remind me of Uncle Toms.
I'll happily throw in the first fiver for a tin of pins for afore-mentioned hack.

Gareth, he's not Southern based, he's a northerner and has followed the game for years. He's a Blackpool fan.
He had a misguided attempt at humour and the masses have fallen over themselves in a race to have the frothiest mouth.

| Not to mention (joking aside) he makes a serious observation, prior to use of said pins.
