| As someone who has seen quite a bit of Harlequins over the past couple of years, I'm extremely worried about this.

| Thanks for the memories, Bluey.
Still the only coach to ever coach back-to-back Grand Final wins.

| Shocked by this but not disappointed. I think it's right to change now - we need freshening up. Lets hope this is followed by a big signing..

With the tools he was given I think he has done a fine job. The question is whether he has got the finess to coach the top players.

I'm sure the "rumour mill" will have a field day with this and there were plenty doing the rounds last year.
I think we just have take next year a game at a time tbh and give Brian Mc and his new coaching staff time to settle and gel with the squad.

| Have to say a bit of a shock but then again nothing shocks me these days. God bless you Bluey - history maker!
Barrie McDermott has said publicly that the success of 2004/2005 was due to the hard work behind the scenes by Brian McDermott. His record at Harlequins should not be viewed as a measure of what is to come from him. The futures bright - the futures with Brian!
On BBC website there is a bit on Iestyn Harris becoming the new Crusaders coach, when it was mooted earlier this morning that Bluey was going, I thought we had recruited Noble!

| That Leeds statement says very little, Hetherington's usual waffle.
Disappointed that it has ended like this but as others had alluded to, there have been a few question marks over Bluey long before this announcement.
Thanks for the memories Brian, now let's back the next one.

| Weird that this has happened now rather than at the very end of the season if he wanted away.
Still, I think freshening things up will do us good, our play looked sloppy and predictable for much of last year so a new change in direction won't got a miss.
Thanks for the memories Bluey.

| Well there have been a lot of rumours that McClenna wasn't the most popular person at Headingley for a while so I can't say I'm that suprised.

| I don't see what the big issue is.
I am not going to bag people who were blinded by our previous success, but next year was always going to be a rebuilding year. I still think more players should have been changed, but I don't see what problem it is changing the coach now. He was going anyway at end of next year, he would not have influenced anything any better for 2011, so don't see the problem in changing now.
The issue now will be is McDermott up to the job for after the rebuilding is done. Personally, I think he might be, but only time will tell.

I'm not sure how fine a job he did. From what I saw, he was consistently tetchy with the media (a small thing maybe, but not ideal at an expansion club), fielded players in completely counterintuitive positions, and for his last eighteen months couldn't seem to motivate them at all.
I had no problem with him coming in as assistant, effectively on a year's trial to see how he fitted in and whether he had what it takes to be the main man at a big club, as opposed to the behind-the-scenes influence he was under Smith. But from being deemed not good enough to get a contract extension as Head Coach at a small SL club, to being Head Coach at one of the biggest seems to be an absurdly large step. I hope for the best, but can't help thinking "Darryl Powell".

| Bluey heading to Vodafone Warriors and Noble coming to Leeds in 2012. That's my predictions.

| From the statement, it shows that it was Bluey's decision to leave now.
Just add him to the list of people who wanted and have got out.
If you listen to the rumours, a certain King Kev will be happy.
