| I don't get it, every time Leeds have been on their butts, Sinfield has muscled up and hauled them back into it by their bootlaces. He's moved about the pitch barking orders like a crazy person , complimenting Buderus all the way. He's been tackling like a machine, marshalling the forwards, launching backs all over the place, has picked up some of JJB's workload on the donkey work, and has an almost "Botica-esque" kicking accuracy.
And yet still, "Man of Steel", Danny Macguire? Talk about Leeds fans missing the point.

Would you like to read the thread again mate, you are normally very observant, but know one other than Marcel did actual say Danny M for MOS. I think Pat Richards but I was just responding to the comment by another poster about Danny in general.
I think you were harsh and you are the one missing the point...

He's played the last 6 games at FB cos Amos isn't fit. He's a work in progress at FB, but imo is the best 6 in the league still. Mcguire has been good this year, but i'd rather stick with the combination of Tomkins/Eastmond/Widdop, or use Myler if Widdop doesn't play. I'd like to think they'd start building the team now that could be together for a few years yet.

| I suspect Pat Richards will win it and probably deservedly so.
It is galling that a team that has set such standards has had no individual recognition but I'd certainly rather have the three consecutive titles (and hopefully four) than any individual awards.

| I'm going to stick my neck out and say that I agree with marcel. McGuire has certainly been Leeds' best player this season, followed by JP and Sinfield.
Pat Richards will probably win it and he would be a deserved winner. Roby is also a credible candidate (more so than the season he won it IMO). The players vote for it ATEOTD and it's a question of who do they respect and fear playing against? McGuire does have a knack for making crucial plays at crucial times. He'll be there or thereabouts.

And I'm sure the opinions of the players will be the same.

Some players step up at international level, others don't.
On current INTERNATIONAL form Tomkins is the best we've got, followed closely by Eastmond. Those two have performed well enough to have earned their opportunities for an extended run and stake their claim as current halfback incumbents for England. They should both be ahead of McGuire in the pecking order right now.
McGuire has had plenty of opportunities at international level and he's performed poorly over a significant period of time. Should Tomkins or Eastmond perform as poorly as McGuire has done at international level over a similar period of time, I'd expect them to be replaced too. And if that should happen, McGuire may warrant further opportunities.

Correct.
In Leeds case, the team (whole) is greater than the sum of it's parts.

| We will never have a MOS in leeds colours it's not allowed if they could take our Grand finals off us they would, If and I know it's a big if we went on to take this years grand final none of the Sy commentators (Barry mac excepted) would accept we had been the best team this century. I'm not paranoid but that dosn't mean they are not out to us

England have just taken a punt on Gareth Widdop at fullback and I'm more than happy to see fresh talent given it's opportunity. So let's ditch Widdop at fullback in order to accommodate Sam Tomkins there instead, just so that one of your favourite Leeds Rhinos players can be accommodated at halfback, despite his wretched international performances over a lengthy period of time? That would make absolutely no sense to anyone blessed with a rational mindset.

| Personally, I don't think McGuire was poor in the World Cup. As I recall he was the only attacking player who really troubled the Kiwis in the semi-final. It was Leon Pryce who went missing at stand-off in that competition. At the moment McGuire has to be in consideration. Let's just be grateful that we actually have some decisions to make in the halves for a change!

| IMO Richards should get it but he wont. Like when Trent Barrett should have got it the other year but didnt, didnt roby get it instead?
Cunningham will get it with it being his last season and him never winning it.

| I love how after only 3 or 4 games for England against decent opposition Tomkins is suddenly the best 6 we've had in decades. If I'm honest I don't think he's as good as Harris or McGuire at the same age. Tomkins has still got a lot to prove IMO and hasn't shown anything to justify automatic selection yet.
McGuire has had a number of good games for GB/England, he's had some poor ones too but so has everyone else who's played for GB/England for the last 40 years. He was outstanding in his first Tri Nations in 2004, and has been effective coming off the bench at scrum half aswell, and was one of the few players to show up in the 2008 world cup.
He was very poor last time out at the DW but, I don't see how you can right him off. He's approaching his peak FFS and he's been as good as any other HB in the SL this year.

Really Keith, you sure know your onions.
In the real world however Danny McGuire was one of the few who had an excellent World Cup. Even the Aussie Media (including Phil Gould) praised his performances.
