All non-emergency flights have been grounded in the United Kingdom from noon today as ash from the eruption caused travel chaos.

The disruption, which has also hit Irish and airspace in northern Europe, has left thousands of travellers stranded.

Sixteen fourth-round ties are due to be played this weekend, with four involving French clubs.

On Saturday, Widnes and St Helens are set to host FC Lezignan-Corbieres and Toulouse respectively, while Leigh are due travel to face Limoux with Salford City Reds visiting Catalans Dragons the following day.

However, the travel chaos has thrown the fixtures into doubt with the Rugby Football League keeping a close eye on any developments.

A spokesman said
