You need professionals to run that sort of set up not ex players with an ego as big as Barrie Mac's
It is the one critisism that can be levelled at Hetherington - his loyalty sometimes clouds his judgement

| Quote: face doesn't fit "Neither failed with effort, but neither looked anything close to a threat, despite chances been there. Infact I would say Clarkson looked more composed than Coady. A true winger out there may have provided a different finish to some chances.
My main gripe is as I put above, the treatment of McShane, despite a particularly poor showing from Diskin. That treatment and poor selection was down to the coach, not the handling.'"
Spot on.
Gosh I do keep managing to attend the home matches that produce the disappointing results (Salford and Harlequins last year spring to mind).....and after a two hundred mile round trip it does deter me for a while again I must admit.
Even the away matches at most grounds (being a lot closer for me...Wrexham being the closest - at least we enjoyed the McGuire try) are begining to to look rather unappealing. I'm still trying to convert my union indoctrinated step-son. For gawd's sake Leeds....improve soon.
McShane DID look rather good.....are we going to lose him do you think because his "face doesn't fit" ? Does seem rather short-sighted !!!! Buderous/McShane for hooker; Diskin cover for back row maybe ? Let's face it with the present injury crisis he would get plenty of games there at the moment. McShane should be the most valued of all three hookers for the sake of the club's future.
Further to this, all the reports about BJB too make me think the club is being - again - rather short-sighted. Why not have him here playing regularly at full-back with Webby sometimes giving some alternative cover in the half backs ? I like McGuire and Burrow but they need competition / a rest like the rest of the squad.

| For what its worth delaney was obviously unwell on two occasions in the warm up he was with the physio throwing up I suspect the Novo virus was in the camp last night.
Also didn't the Acadamy play on Friday afternoon which would have made it difficult to select players for last minute drop outs.
How can you blame the coach for handling errors on the pitch particuraly when it was our seasoned professionals who were the culprits.
We put a makeshift side in this week and lost by 7 points HKR were that bothered in the second half they took a penalty when they could if confident had run the ball.
Last week we lost by 6 in adversity just think with all our first team back we would on paper at least have walked those games.
didn't we win the second half 4 points to 1 in my book given the injuries, the weather and the fact that many players were out of position I think that was a good effort and we should be standing behind the team and the coach.
Amor was told he was playing friday morning and he admits on Rhinos TV he needs to do better lets support these youngsters not dis them at every opportunity.
You will see I don't often post but all this doomand gloom racks me off rant over!

| Agree re the comments about McShane. Should have been given far more game time as we were better with him on the pitch. Although extremely disappointed at last night's result I have to put it in context of who we had on the pitch. What is diffficult to reconcile is senior players dropping the ball with little or no pressure. Surely Bluey should n't have to coach pro palyers how to catch the ball!
What Bluey needs to work on is our attacking plays as they are all too predictable. We seemed to have the early possesion but did not convert this into points.

Is it Bluey?
Certainly 6th and 10th place last season is not what I'd normally associate with Leeds and you don't seem to be producing the class of young players that Saints and Wigan are.
I watch a lot of reserve / academy rugby and Leeds last season were really poor."
The above is spot on IMV & the reason why we've had to look to other SL clubs juniors (e.g. Pitts who early on does not look special) & the lower leagues (eg Amor & Coady).
We've had neither the size nor pace in the Academy for a few years now. Compare our position with both Saints & Wigan. IMO I regret to say the future is not rosy in the long term for homegrown talent.

| Hard circumstances last night but i agree, Bluey needs to start taking some flack.
Im guessing Clarkson is a natural winger, if hes not then why wasnt Bush playing? Why on earth was Senior playing on the wing in defence? If your going to choose a winger, play him as a winger, dont shuffle the team around and cause more disruption. By putting Senior on the wing it indicates that Clarkson was a passenger last night. We needed the senior players to stand up and be counted last night, but by putting Senior on the wing it made him less of a threat and the left side more of a risk.
Recall BJB FFS! This is how fooking daft it is: at one point Webb was struggling again, Webb went out on the wing whilst Senior went Full Back!! Although Webb did some nice kick returns he was playing injured for the 3rd week running. He had a knock in the game against Melbourne, he played on,against Quins he went off on 60mins, against Shudds he was in discomfort early on, and suprise suprise he was getting a lot of attention from the physio last night and Senior had to cover Full back for a set or two. For the life of me why not call BJB back? Even for the wing, he has got to be a better option than Clarkson, as BJB played wing a couple of time for the senior team in the past.
I agree with McShane too, he was very good when he came on, I didnt see him go off, but i soon noticed he was no longer on the field. 10 mins is an insult to the lad.

| Clarkson is a loose/centre. Bush was injured/virus.
Senior played wing in defence to help out with kick returns, something which he did quite well.

A loose You cannot be serious.
Do we not have any other wingers in the academy? Is Bush the only winger for the academy

| My only critism of BM was the use, or lack of, Mcshane. I could not understand why he was not brought on late in the 1st half as we do every other week we play with 2 hookers. To then bring him on for only 10/15 mins in the 2nd half was mystifing. There may be a genuine explanation but it would be interesting to hear it from BM.

| i'd start mcshane next week but I fully expect him to not make the squad
In terms of coaching, does the coach decide our kicking game? I would expect so and it is terrible

And a spot on view David. We have been saying it for a couple of years now.

We have never had an effective kicking game - our tries from inside our oppenents 20 is pityful for a club at this level
