I think it will be a fine, what ban did Daniel Anderson get when he criticised Ian smith? Ian Smith didn't ref another Saints game that seaon did he?

I think there is a difference between players and coaches - also at that time Saints were the darlings of RL and intimidated the RFL.

Senior has questioned the integrity of an official - Anderson questioned the competence - big difference

Coaches should be treated more harshly than players as they are supposed to set an example to their players and the fact that their comments can be calculated before they say them.

I do agree with your second analysis that integrity and competence should be treated differently. But is it actually in the rules that a player can be banned for this sort of offence

I can recall a couple of coaches referring to "feeling cheated" in recent years and escaping without a ban.

That was my interpretation.

And sorry David, but anybody that thinks a player will get 4 or 5 games for anything verbal to a ref is sadly going very much overboard. You don't even get that for almost decapitating players most of the time.
