| How anyone can pick Pryce above Lyon in the centres is beyond me. Lyon was IMO the best player I saw in SL in the last decade.

He was in fact the best player I’ve seen this decade in SL.

It was a close one for me between Dallas and Albert and went for Albert for no other reason than I remember him chasing back and putting try saving tackles in when we murdered Saints 70-0.
I didn't go for Lyon simply because I didn't think he played here for long enough really.

I went for Dallas due to the fact Albert played in a winning Saints team and scored 88 tries in 124 games as opposed to Dallas who played in a declining Wigan team and managed 89 tries in 156 games.
Whilst Albert had a better scoring ratio, I just think that would be expected due to the team he played in.
With Lyon, I get he only played 2 seasons but the impression he made in that time was huge (I also just wouldnt have a player who bottles the big occassion more often than actually perform in it like Leon Pryce anywhere near a team of the decade).

| Strange how many have over looked Vaikona
I always feared him far more than Vainikolo and though his all round game was better

| Quote: TDR "I reckon most supporters of any team other than Leeds would question the inclusion of 3 or 4 players in that selection'"
If you re-read my original post, I said that the team was based on the number of times that players were selected in the dream team.
So no place for Long who was only selected twice whereas bot Burrow & Lam have been picked 3 times.
Likewise no place for Pryce another one hit wonder.
Wingers were more difficult since there were 4 picked twice - Vaikona, Vainikolo, Albert & Donald. Here my Leeds bias came into play.
For the remainder I just picked those with the most inclusions in the dream team over the period 2000 -2009

An interesting debate could be had regarding Lyon's MOS year, 2005, as to who actually was the best centre in SL, never mind the best player. Senior was devestating that year, not just in his stats ( www.superleague.co.uk/statistics ... eason=2009), but in his play overall. I doubt there was any way he would have been considered for MOS with the way Lyon was talked up from game 1, but Senior (apart from a few goalkicks) was until his injury, the better player that year.
As for Pryce, he's played the entire decade and won every honour many times - including the Lance Todd trophy and the Harry Sunderland award (not bad for a guy who doesn't turn up to big games). Unless of course you're Eddie Hemmings' Jamie Lyon induced semi of course.

Lyon is obviously a class player, but the way he was hyped up as this kind of superman was just stupid, he was a very good player playing very well, but there were several others too. Matt Gidley for instance, who hasnt received the same kind of hype, has looked just as devastating as Lyon did for Saints when they were dominating the league.
Up until Leeds decided enough was enough, brought the cane out of the cupboard and gave them a damn good thrashing of course.
