My brother used to swear by Creatine powder (I think Prolab was a popular brand but not sure if still is). Think places like Holland & Barrett is a good place to try.

| Quote: G1 "That's worrying.
Are these donor kebabs and Chinese food supplements available in health food shops?'"
They are, but many of the best of these health emporia are most readily accessed after normal pub opening hours.
The kebab shop near where I used to live did, in fact, have a poster on the wall which read:
"Try a chicken kebab: The low fat, healthy option."
True story.

Seconded on myprotein.co.uk very good site.
If you are going out to buy, there's no need to be paying the extra for maximuscle, you're only paying the extra because they spend so much on marketing. The quality is no better.
The important thing to remember is supplements are just that, supplements. No point i using them if your diet is shoddy or you do sweet fanny adams work at the gym.

| don't just down a few protein shakes and expect to get big depending on your weight you're probably going to have to eat well in excess of 3000 calories a day of clean food.

I wouldn't bother with creatine. All that does is basically holds water in your muscles, as soon as you stop using it you'll end up looking massive, but not in the sense you're after.

| If you're gonna use creatine, use a product by EAS called Phosphagen Elite, it mixes and tastes great and requires no loading process like the regular Creatine Monohydrate. You can see results after using it within 2 weeks.
As for a Protein suppliment or diet, if you are wanting to put on size I'd say have some kind of protein 3 - 4 times a day, morning, 1 hour pre training, after training, and again just before you go to bed!
If you want some discouted rates, PM me and i'll see what I can get you!

That won't put on size unless you are consuming enough calories alongside the protein intake.
I doubt someone will be taking in enough calories if they are only planning to consume protein 3 or 4 times a day.
What will the other meals consist of carbs and fat.
Just before bed, consume your protein with milk and a soucre of fat.

Milk provides a slow digesting protein before bed.
If you just have whey it'll be gone after 3 hours and your fibres will have nothing to feed off for the remaining 4 hours of sleep.
It depends on the guys bodytype.
Buut if he's ectomorph.........prepare to force feed yourself, you gon needs **** loads of food.

Everyone seems to agree the it's supplementation not substitution. I'd be wary of ecouraging somebody to use particular supplements without knowing what they eat through the day and what they do.
I think the OP was hoping for a short simple answer, unfortunately this doesn't exist. Asking what puts on muscle and hearing "protein" or "creatine" or "one injection a week for 8 weeks" isn't really the answer - it's more complex than that.
But yeah, whey

| Couldn't people just eat properly and exercise well? Hence becoming fitter and healthier? it usually works for me and my fitness is almost certainly a lot better than all the gym freaks who spend their time slurping whey protein etc and hanging out in airless gyms when they could be outside in the real world. Gyms are where I go when I have injuries that prevent me exercising properly.

Actually there is a simple answer.
5/6 meals a day
600/700 cals per meal
Protein shakes at times specified by cala
Train hard 4 times a week
8 hours of sleep
do that for months on end and you'll get bigger.
But if this guy thinkg he can eat his 3 square meals a day down some protein shakes and grow he's gooing to get nowehere fast.

We're agreeing here! I said he (maybe) wants to hear a simple answer like, use whey. I said it's more complex than that and your simple answer is exactly that - more complex than being told to down shakes for size.
The other thing i'd say, which has been touched on by others, is that you should treat your metabolism like a fire. You need to keep feeding it for it to work. If you eat rarely (every 5 hours or so) your body doesn't use the grub as best it can. Instead, it's inclined to store. So yeah, 5 or 6 meals at regular intervals helps.
