I used to be very critical of my CV till someone actually pointed out to me it wasn’t as bad as I though it was. I’ve got around 3.4 years worth of experience in the voluntary sector along with some more recent work at ASDA (of whose uniform I will be burning come camping next week).

Despite my rejection of that job I am going to look into doing something different within the voluntary sector as my experience within the work placement centre has been nothing but bad experience. (My CV is two pages long..)



I don’t have plans to make any more videos on a scale that I have been making them as it does not really give me the stable lifestyle that I crave. In fact the only thing I am doing from now on with the entertainment side of things is my Mcing that has recently become popular - I will be releasing an album out by the end of the summer.

However my main focus is to get on some sort of career path that is not as unpredictable as the ones offered by agencies that hang around the job centre like flies around .

Just mates and acquaintances quite enjoyed my Mcing so I'll do a little album and dish it out for free and see where it goes from there. Just a bit of fun really..

Damo Agency work may not be the best but at least its work and more importantly money in the bank and employment on your CV not just voluntary work.

Until recently I have worked doing work via an Agency for the past 3 years and at times hated it but it was work and money so my way of looking at it was better than nothing. The work I was doing via the agency was generally ac hoc stuff rather than anything longer term but I know of people in different areas of work who have gone on from there month with an agency to working full time for the company they were placed with - so getting your foot in the door really does work.

I couldn't agree more. My wife started as a temp via an agency. She ended up being a manager at the same place she started temping, and eventually moved on to more responsible and senior positions elsewhere. She's now a company director. All because she bit the bullet and went with an agency on a one month contract, whilst all her other pals were starting much more glamorous jobs with big accountancy consultancies. I'm pretty sure she thinks she made the right decision.

Damo? Never mind Damo, I finish in a fortnight.

I started off temping here 7 years ago, and they've only just found me out!

The trouble I've found is that people aren't willing to give you "mundane" jobs, as they see my salary and experience and reason I'll be off as soon as I can.

So all you will do is extend the front 30 seconds out to 4 mins, delay the chorus, shorten the rhytym, up the bass and ruin the vocals.


When can you start?

It's a shame that a serious thread to help people find work has degenerated into the usual chit chat amongst friends.

I have experienced a similar problem when applying for basic admin jobs (which I would have been happy to do just to have something permanent) I was often told I was over qualified for the job
