At the end of the day, whilst we can all be happy playing for ten/fifteen mins per half a game it does not look good for the play offs. Our attack is pretty good, as seen by the try which fortuatously won us the game, but the defense is a joke. Wakey will be lucky to make the final 8 and we conceded 30 points for the second game in a row. Our A markers do not work, the wingers seem to defend as centres which allows teams with a good kicking game the chance to score lots of points from kicks. It's not good enough saying that teams only score with kicks, how many will Saints put past us?? Seems like something is missing at the minute, not sure if it is a coaching thing or a confidence thing but we need a good beating to put it right. As a wise man once said, DEFENCE wins games, attack determines by how many!

Before anyone bite my head off,,,,Got to say,,What a great nights entertainment...Result in doubt right up to the last minute.Full commitment by both sets of players....Which is something players from our "National Sport" could learn from.

Yes thats what we need to knock our confidence and ease pressure on saints. A huge 70-0 thrasing would help immensly, especially since we have a 5 game unbeaten run.

I wouldn't worry too much yet. One of McClennans post match comments was quite telling when he said "We're not starting our run yet". Which suggests there is a lot more to come, much like the last two years.

At the end of the day we were 8 points down 5 minutes left and down to 12 men away at a play-off team We still won.
We scored 6 tries to 4 and lets face it the atkins try been awarded was a joke and so was our discipline not as much oue defence as you'd think.

I agree, however, we are just papering over the cracks by beating teams like Hull, Wakey et all in the last few mins. I personally do not rate Bluey, seems he is not in the same league as TS. Defence shocking, Discipline needs working in too. I understand the players frustration but would Abblett and JJB done the chatting back under TS?

I do not want us to get 70 -0 thrashed, but something needs to happen to make the players and coaches realise we are nowhere near good enough at the minute.

Wakey will not finish in the 8, not a chance. Yes we scored more tries, but what is this, have we turned into a Kevin Keehgan team, we will score more than you. I realise this is how games are won but it should not be that bad against a team like Hull or Wakey, or even Cas. Wakey were also down to 12 and they pummelled us. It's just not good enough. How many would Saints or Hull KR put past us, the game would have been out of sight by half time. Dont forget their poor winger bombed a sitter right on half time.

Didnt we have the best defence in Superleague (Based on points conceeded) up until 2 or 3 games ago. The boys may have taken their eyes of the ball defence wise recently but I imagine it will be back up to scratch when we start our run in!

We started conceding points against Hull on the back of a shed load of penalties - Leeds play with a very compressed defence so they will always be suspect to a high kick out wide Wakey scored the tries in the second half from kicks out wide

Quote: RescuedBlue "To be fair, I wouldn't want to judge Atkins on one game

However what I hope tonight does show is that the Keith Senior doubters that probably still exist should see what he has just done to Atkins tonight and maybe appreciate KS a heck of a lot more

If Atkins really is the next best thing once Keith retires completely, then the game could be in real trouble, because Atkins is at the age now where he should have been troubling the "old man".'"

KS has returned to his best this season. Sometimes he allows himself to get drawn out in defence and can leave a few holes but the quality od his ball carrying and support has been wonderful for the most part.

The only game this season where I've thought our defence was poor was last week against Hull. On Friday our defence was fine, it was what we were doing with the ball and our discipline that was the problem.

Business end of the season is approaching in the very far distance but we are motoring along nicely

Both sides' defence were poor. Leeds will need to lift their intensity in that regard come the business end of the season.

It’s not our defence that we need to work on at all – quite the opposite. Considering the amount of penalties we conceded our defence held up pretty well.

If we could manage to improve our discipline then we wouldn’t need to defend half as much as we do. But maybe that’s why we have such a good defence is due to the fact that we spend most of the frekkin’ game defending after conceding so many frekkin’ penalties.

Still find it hard to believe that Ablett managed to get pinged TWICE for being a gooby cock.
