| I now await our fekkwits who hailed him when we signed him and slated him after a few games to once again worship him.
The difference when he and Diskin were at hooker was clear to see.
As fanstanningey says, getting better each week and was superb yesterday.

I don’t recall slating DB although I questioned his necessity above signing the same calibre centre to replace Ellis.
So, playing Devils Advocate and with the advantage of hindsight, would you sill have him on our books at the expense of a world class centre, sacrificing quality distribution and impressive dummy-half play for and ‘out and out’ class right centre?

Yes, the need for a world class centre in a successful team has been wildly overblown by know nowts on here.

Leeds Rhinos don’t need anything. Ok The Leeds Rhinos fans may want the Leeds team to have a world class centre but we don’t need one. At the end of the day we are the back to back defending champs. I’d be more than happy if we have the same squad next year with Eastwood coming over!
If Eastwood is still not allowed then we’ll still be seeing a world class Leeds Rhinos team week in week out.
Form is temporary. Class is forever!

A little harsh IMO.
The first spell Buderus had on the park Leeds were in complete control of the game, playing with some shape and structure with everyone seeming to know exactly where they needed to be going.
One of Diskin's first contributions to the game was to jump out of dummy half and deliver a lovely timed pass which led to a try IIRC.
The change in the performance came with the panic introduction of McGuire off the bench which completely changed the shape of the side. Buderus in his second spell was no more effective than Diskin had been IMO, as by that point the confused, disorganised Leeds from Easter were back again.

I just thought his distribution and running were far better. I also thought he was mainly to blame for their 1st try with a poor ball to Kirke, who should've done better himself.
You're right about the introduction of McGuire though.

| McGuire's form is terrible at the moment.
I put Leed's apparently clearer sense of focus on Sunday down to the fact that McGuire wasn't on the pitch, giving Burrow and Sinfield better defined roles
edit: not entirely of course, but I think it had some influence

Your kidding right?
That complete control we had and shape, was because of Buderus starting, not inspite of it.
He got us on a role with the type of dummy half play we have been missing all season, and Diskin managed to integrate with ease when coming on because of it. However, once half time came it stopped the momentum. Diskin was still on for start of second half and straight away a poor pass from dummy half, and we are on the back foot. McGuire was not on at that stage, and did not come on until 10 minutes into the second half.
McGuire was awfull, and played a big part in our structure going down hill, but Diskin was equally as bad in that second period.

Where have I said that anything was in spite of Buderus rather than because of him?
The point I was making, and which you seem to be too judging by your last paragraph, is that the structure disappeared completely with McGuire's introduction in the last 30 mins.
Dummy halves don't dictate what happens once the ball leaves their hands. Buderus made hay off the back of some good running angles from the forwards, enabling players to find the floor and get quick play the balls. This gave time and space for Sinfield and Burrow to put some width on the game and allow the left hand side to create mayhem.
In the second half all that shape and organisation disappeared with McGuire's introduction and it was back to five drives in behind the ruck. That enabled Catalans to get numbers in the tackle every time and slow the play the ball down to the point where whoever was at dummy half looked ineffective.

| Whilst i completely agree mcguire is lacking form to completely blame him for structure issue's when he came on is way ott imo.
When he was introduced the momentum had already changed in catalans favour and the french pack were on top,the kicking was mostly done by sinfield and burrow and the french tries came on the back of a poor diskin pass to kirke, smith and his inside man misreading elima's run and the 3rd was down to burgess and peacock being caught flat-footed.
I agree we looked better structured when mcguire was still on the bench but that had as much to do with what the pack and buderus were doing rather than mcguire not been there.

Thats what I like to see. An opinion.
And good point too.
Still think McGuire spoilt us, but your right to say he is not the sole reason.

| Drop Matt Diskin for the Castleford Tigers match and give the Danny Buderus and Paul McShane combination a go i say, I believe the two styles can compliment each other unlike that of Buderus & Diskin...
