He's out of contract at the end of the season so can join union if he wants. However, union want him for the beginning of their season so Mr Hethrington could get some transfer money if they let him go half-way through our season.
He's been our most consistent player this season and is really showing his class. It'll be good to keep him for the rest of the season, but is it worth losing out on a bit of dosh?

my view is that if he is leaving whats the point in the staff waisting time coaching him to be a centre, surley we would be better putting the time and effort into watkins and gibbo
im not saying let smith rot in the reserves but should be a back up for fullback wing and centre. let the people who are here because they wanna be a rhino play the games. imo it will serve us better in the long run.
but the amount of times we have heard people say its a done deal and nothing come of it.
