On the flip side of the coin though If Keith has no problems selling them then why shouldn't he? He is after all giving a fan an opportunity to own something that is pretty unique and rather that than it go to waste??? I don't judge him for what he's doing but I also think if I was in his position it'd be an unthinkable.'"
As he has publicly stated, why should he have to keep medals that remind him of failure when a collecor ar a fan could put them to better use. He keeps all his winners medals/rings. Also a shirt is a shirt, im assuming he keeps his winning shirts too and gets rid of the losers shirts. I have no problem whatsoever.
He could have washed it though

Memories are fine, but they won't pay the rent once your playing career stops. Why would you want medals sitting around the house reminding you of games where you lost?'

Indeed. It seems as though ex-players who have fallen on hard times have carte blanche to get rid of their medals, but current pro's are slagged off by pretty much everyone for trying to ensure the same fate doesn't befall them.

| I know of two high profile Leeds players one from Super League and one just pre super league that are signing on the dole at the moment.
One of these is a legend of the game.
On the dole.
Yet some of you fatties or nerdy geeks from the terraces feel you have the right to judge a player for cashing in on a brief career?
"Fans" of our great game really don't deserve it.

If it's a winners medal or something i'd guess he'll be keeping it, as he's said, he has a Challange Cup winners medal so why keep a losers one?
he has 3 grand final rings why keep the losers one from 2005?
good luck to him!

And many others enjoy a fantastic lifestyle post playing career. I would argue Leeds in the SL era offer umpteen opportunities for their players to educate themselves / develop post playing career strategies.

Their career is over at 35, they are not qualified or trained in anything other than RL. Admittedly at a club like Leeds who have enough money floating around, there is a possibility of getting some kind of degree or diploma but I doubt the same is true at some of the smaller, cash strapped clubs. Plus even at Leeds I would imagine only so many first teamers will be enrolled on a degree course each year.
I wish there was enough money in the game to pay the players 2,3 or even 4 times as much as they currently get paid.

The season starts in October. Until then, don't panic!: |
|
| Good luck to Keith, and any other player who sells on eBay.
Judging by some of the sale prices, there is a big demand for the items, so why the hell not? Everything has a price.
