| I offered my view some time ago that its a very typical example of what you get when you go to "professional" web site designers who really want to show off what they can do rather than produce a web site that is useful to the client - my own company's head office web site is exactly the same and gets far fewer hits than the one that I did from scratch for our branch in Leeds - thats not because I am super-good at designing web sites, just that I made ours a straighforward sales web site and took note of what an optimisation expert told me to do.
Given that our club win awards nearly every season for the outstanding quality of the matchday programme, and the fact that the programme is written totally in-house, then I think the answer is hitting everyone in the face with a baseball bat - ditch the graphic front end and go for a magazine format with a simple page index type navigation, its something that the in-house programme author(s) will feel familiar with - and by the way, ditch the blue background while you're at it.

I could talk for hours about this. I agree with everything you've said.
Also, we're World Champions!! The website looks like it belongs to a Sunday League Club with a bit of time on their hands.

| It's amazing that we can be innovative with our repeatedly “award winning” match day programme, but ignore the website, which as someone has already stated has not been updated in over 7 years - very poor.
Why do we have to go thru the various selection processes to get the Rhino's home page? If we wanted Cricket, UNION, corporate, retail, experience or Lodge, we would find it thru a normal search engine. It would be interesting to see how many "hits" these sites have taken. We don't even have a TOP 10 Stats page for appearances, Tries, Kicks etc.
Come on get us an Informative Website to be proud of, we may be Double Super League Champions, but we a bottom of the table with the Website.
I was surfing the other day and came across Pompeys website rlhttp://www.portsmouthfc.co.uk/rl, it's inviting and provides various info etc, even video clips. Why should we have to go to youtube to watch Donald score his brilliant try against Hull last season, our site should have this and more.

Actually looking to see if Defoe was cup-tied for the s-f league cup match - Burnley -v- Spurs
In fact he was on the bench, but never played when pompey played Chelsea in the League cup earlier in the season.

| My thoughts on it areVery slow to load.
Hard to get to actual rhinos content. Domain name points to a selection of Leeds Rhinos & Leeds Carnegie - fair enough from the url, but Cricket, Corporate Opportunities, Retail, Experience & Lodge seem mis-placed. After that there is a splash screen for whatever is being promoted at the time, then after this you are to the main content page. Probably not the best design.
Online shop is woeful, with little range, which is essential for people who live outside of the city. GH has mentioned that the club has a significant level of support from outside the sity. This could be better targetted if merchandise was easily available through the website. The shop section looks amatuerish
Polls that are more often than not out of date
The site is not great from a usability point of view and does look dated with the background image.
Also found it hard to find where to buy tickets online

| One of the biggest problems for me is usability - it's very difficult to get the information that I need from it and if I didn't know myself how to get to the ticket order system, I'd be knackered.
For instance, I was looking at ticket prices for last night's game. Now if you look at the rlticket inforl page (it may change today), the details are in there but they are needlessly hidden within the all-too common sales spiel about the tickets for the WCC, season tickets, Headingley Lodge and whatever else the club is trying to flog. As a result, the page has got seven "folds" in it - far too many in my view.
I know why they've done it, but this is where the club appears to be confused as to which parts of the site are sales channels and which parts of the site are information portals.
That's not helped by the navigation - the menu on the left is far too big. Condense it into smaller sections, make it clear which section is which and it will be more efficient.
Graphically, it's poor. White text on a dark blue watermark is not a good combination and there are lots of elementary problems with presentation (such as the ads on the right each being different sizes) which just look amateurish.
I'd probably make a few other points but there's stuff to do. Apologies to Phil whilst I'm at it (I'm sure he'll be reading this). I did get your PM but never got around to responding. Rest assured, I'm not the sort who's happy to slag-off on a public forum without being constructive.

Is that response after reading JJB's testimonial brochure?
My bugbear is their failure to know the difference between "complement"
& "compliment". Or if they do why do they consistently get it wrong.
Mind you they're not unique in that.

And hopefully someone who doesn't allow the many mistakes that were in the 'Back to Back Champions' book.
