| Quote: KaeruJim "At the end of the day the call has been made, and it wasn’t unexpected.
I’ll judge Agar based on the chance to change the squad up a little bit more for 2020, get a full pre-season in and let the new recruits properly bed in. I’m not massively confident but I’m open minded on him.
If the club is smart, they’ll make it an appointment on a year-by-year basis with a break clause if a new head coach is identified, whereupon Agar takes up his oversight role again. Then everyone is clear.
If a miracle happens and Agar takes the side towards trophies they can think again
That’s exactly as I see it. Essentially still caretaker until the right person is found. Clearly we were in for Powell so Agar obviously isn’t the club’s ideal choice and I doubt he’ll be the choice long term.
I think some people are also underestimating the risk of bringing someone else in who doesn’t work out. We’ve had a massive change in personnel both on and off the field. A bit of stability for a year whilst we rebuild may not be the terrible option some people are predicting.

| Quote: mattsrhinos1978 "Im more interested in how theyr going this year with him, if one player can get Salford playing how they are, theres no reason for us to be talking about reshaping our squad over multiple years before we can be a good team again.
Just backs up what im saying, Watson loses his best players all the time, replaces them with players nobody wants, gets them playing well, then loses them players aswel.
Salford will also be losing Josh Jones, another player nobody was queing up for when they got him, now he'sone of the best backrowers in the comp. Everybody thought theyd drop off when they lost Lui and replaced him with Tui, who was terrible for us, theyr still flying and apparently Tuis playing well for them....Very good coach, just keeping them up every year is an accomplishment, playing good rugby and challenging for playoffs now and again is top class work from him.
But we Sign 2 big name marquees, more NRL forwards, one of watsons halfs...And we have to wait years to be up there?? Not for me, if Agars the right man, we should be up there vying for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th places nxt season and be a fighting chance against the best teams. I think he's a bad hire, but if he does that, il be over the moon to be wrong and genuinly happy for him, he seems a proper good bloke and i want him to do well, thats the positive im taking from the hire, that a good bloke gets the chance to get his career going in the right direction.'"
Great post that.

The points difference and indeed win record, are completely and utterly irrelevant when you look at the fixtures, and in comparison to first half of season. Do you really see this current side going away to Saints, Warrington, and Wigan and changing the result? Good god we even won at Salford first half of year, and are now losing at home.
That is not saying an improvement wouldn’t be there if played again now. But it is ridiculous to compare two totally different circumstances as some sort of excuse for this appointment.'"
A question was asked I just answered it that's all

| I can see Ryan Carr having a more significant role at Leeds going forward overseeing the coaching structure and junior player development under Agar.

The best performances of the season in my opinion was Saints away in week 4, Salford away in week 3 and the 2 wins versus Cas. Furner was coach in 3 of those.
But weve got to move on now.

Totally agree with the second paragraph , not only would I say its not the terrible option but I think its the correct option

I’d like us to continue with him or get James Ford involved somehow. Lowes was never going to take a step again to head coach and we missed another opportunity there to provide development pathways for our own coaches. Agar being at the helm gives a perfect opportunity to groom someone through the ranks - although granted that can get terribly political in practice.

Saints away we we were in a clear winning position and threw it away with terrible defence, Cas at home was very similar we were well in command but simply had no backbone and very lucky to win because of McShanes brain fart and a very scratchy drop goal.
There were some absolutely dreadful performances under Furner, Hull away, Wakefield at home spring to mind but the amount of times we just crumbled even when in the lead was shocking.
Salford was a very good performance ill give you that.

Same.
This whole thing does make me wonder about timing, call me a cynic. Things now working out with Furner early on, oops moment, Agar is brought across in some non-threatening role and then ends up replacing Furner after SL status secured and legal settlement reached with the former coach. Reading too much into it, or always the plan...?

Furner he us looking slick in attack (unsurprisingly) but we were awful in D. I’m not saying all that was his fault as much was down to our dysfunctional right edge, two of which have now left the club and the third crocked knee.
I think Furner struggled carrying the can without the remit to fix/change the playing roster.

Oh I agree we have to move on. We just have to live with it. It will prove yet another Hetherington error, but he will continue to be excused. I suspect another coach will be incoming by July 2020, but Hetherington has made this really hard for himself by putting family up for the dunking up to then.
I just hope Carr is in full time, and the suggestion above on Ford, would certainly soften this decision.

That again would be a backwards step for the club . We already have ex players (Gotchas job for the boys quote on an earlier post)with zero coaching experience trying to develop our next crop which for me standing on the side line watching games all this year and last clearly hasn’t worked ? Why would we put an inexperienced 33 year old in charge of our whole development structure ? The reason agar got the development gig in the first place according to GH was due to his vast knowledge of the game that he could pass on to the existing coaches within the system!
On a side note everyone in the game knows that agar is not a ford fan so if agar gets the top gig We can discount ford out of the equation in any shape or form. For me it will be a Carr Walker backroom staff with someone else coming in overseeing the development side which I find strange because isn’t Simon Bell still employed as HOY? Unless he’s part of the 16s reshuffle you talked about earlier Marty ? ( Can’t see our club telling two assistants they aren’t good enough before getting rid? Like to think they would have a bit more class than that despite that might being the real reason)?

| Don't shoot the messenger but I've been told that Ryan Carr will be employed by us in 2020 (from a Fev fan I know)
What role he will have?

| So then, Agar on a rolling contract to be reviewed as the season progresses. Hardly a vote of confidence in their new man is it?
