Lets see how Salford go next season without Hastings?

In my opinion there’s no way we would have defended 7 sets on our line like in Friday without conceding during Furners reign'" I read this somewhere its about plus 50 something for Agar.

Im more interested in how theyr going this year with him, if one player can get Salford playing how they are, theres no reason for us to be talking about reshaping our squad over multiple years before we can be a good team again.
Just backs up what im saying, Watson loses his best players all the time, replaces them with players nobody wants, gets them playing well, then loses them players aswel.
Salford will also be losing Josh Jones, another player nobody was queing up for when they got him, now he'sone of the best backrowers in the comp. Everybody thought theyd drop off when they lost Lui and replaced him with Tui, who was terrible for us, theyr still flying and apparently Tuis playing well for them....Very good coach, just keeping them up every year is an accomplishment, playing good rugby and challenging for playoffs now and again is top class work from him.
But we Sign 2 big name marquees, more NRL forwards, one of watsons halfs...And we have to wait years to be up there?? Not for me, if Agars the right man, we should be up there vying for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th places nxt season and be a fighting chance against the best teams. I think he's a bad hire, but if he does that, il be over the moon to be wrong and genuinly happy for him, he seems a proper good bloke and i want him to do well, thats the positive im taking from the hire, that a good bloke gets the chance to get his career going in the right direction.

Why are you completely ignoring the fixtures when calling this? The points difference and indeed win record, are completely and utterly irrelevant when you look at the fixtures, and in comparison to first half of season. Do you really see this current side going away to Saints, Warrington, and Wigan and changing the result? Good god we even won at Salford first half of year, and are now losing at home.
That is not saying an improvement wouldn’t be there if played again now. But it is ridiculous to compare two totally different circumstances as some sort of excuse for this appointment.

I agree with most of this - it's very hard to compare when so many things are different.
I would say that any coach, like any leader, is only ever right for a place in time, and the right context. There is no universal "better than" - it depends on the circumstances. So, managing big egos and a team of talents, that would be Brian McDermott. Managing a no-hoper squad against the odds, Ward or maybe Watson. Technical? Smith. Heart? Kear. Dynasty? Bellamy.
Also there IS a massive relationship between quality of player and trophies, the coach guides and moulds, but the players play. I don't care how good your coach is, I'll beat you with my World XIII.
Leeds need both a great side and great coach to win again. Personally I'm willing to give Agar the benefit of the doubt for a year, adding a couple more signings hopefully, and see how things travel - because I don't see a truly world class coach for Leeds on the horizon instead of him.
Too many of you are swayed by one good season of results IMO. When we were good, Leeds built foundations that lasted for years, but it took years to do. The club has massively taken its eye off the ball and we are where we are now.

So whos the best hire, the coach whos built his credentials over the years, to the point that he's got a smaller club with limited resources, playing some lovely rugby and challenging at the top end of the table, or the coach whos faied everywhere he's been, who got took on as some development guy at the start of the season because no clubs went anywhere near him with a head coach role for years?

Not a million miles off mate.
Walker is Golden Boy I know, and I rate him too, but he seriously needs to work on his passing game linking in the line - nine times out of ten his miracle balls end up dropped or in touch. He has a lot of improvement in him, but he does also have quality and x-factor which the side needs.
T Briscoe is a solid winger in a decent side, but I probably wouldn't renew him after this next contract depending on form and recovery from injury.
Hurrell was always going to be rocks and diamonds. If he could hold the ball better he would still be in the NRL as one of the best centres in the world. We have someone else's problems, as per.
I can see Dwyer not being retained beyond next year, if Johnson develops as hoped.
Newman and Oledzki are underdone and should both benefit from a full pre-season.
I think Hurrell would benefit from a really solid second row on his inside. Part of his problem is he is often taking the ball into contact with multiple defenders, and they are playing at the ball as just about the only way to stop him. He needs a little less pressure to thrive, which is down to his teammates and coaching.

| I am the one who try’s to be optimistic, I don’t want Agar, but we will end up with a coach who KS and GH want. I don’t buy into what the players say, good coach or not we are still only two points above bottom team. Let’s look at his CV, a list of his failures and his sackings, short term he may have improved the defence, but we are still only two pints off the bottom and we have still been losing to the bottom teams at home. All you have to do is listen to the fans of the teams who he has coached. His CV is terrible, he has won nowt, he hasn’t over any length of time improved any team where he has coached. That is a fact, so why will he start to change now.
It’s likely we will finish 5th from bottom this season, we are in the same group as we was when he took over, being optimistic I can say we are what is called
CREAM OF THE CRAP.

| I was told when Furner was sacked that Agar only had it to the end of the season. This was from someone who could not get any closer to GH.
Listening to GH on Friday after the game he put a hell of a spin on the result, couldn’t believe my ears. He just seemed relieved that we’re still in SL next season. The sad truth was he asked the young stand off to speak whilst justifying him playing at Fev, when he should have been given a game for us. I just don’t understand what is happening, they are living in a different age to what the supporters are going through.
The Marketing team have not spoken to me this year, now since last Sunday I’m receiving emails, shaking hands with people etc , it’s unbelievable.

| At the end of the day the call has been made, and it wasn’t unexpected.
I’ll judge Agar based on the chance to change the squad up a little bit more for 2020, get a full pre-season in and let the new recruits properly bed in. I’m not massively confident but I’m open minded on him.
If the club is smart, they’ll make it an appointment on a year-by-year basis with a break clause if a new head coach is identified, whereupon Agar takes up his oversight role again. Then everyone is clear.
If a miracle happens and Agar takes the side towards trophies they can think again: for now I still see this as partly a caretaker role while they finish brushing out the squad and reshaping it.
