Doesn't help that FC are a bit skint so are cutting costs.
Tony Smith seems to come across like he's enjoying coaching and everything it involves but isn't really bothered about winning stuff, a bit like it's a hobby. Maybe he hasn't got the drive anymore but just enjoys the job.
As you say he's a really nice guy.

I attended a week long coaching camp that he lead some of the content on nearly 20 years ago now, he was by far the most fascinating and genuine coach I'd ever had the opportunity to talk with and listen to his philosophies. Great guy and as you say always seems to enjoy what he does regardless of the outcome.

| On a soft pitch we are just going to have to make yardage. TNW and Ruan both in for me, and only one of McDonnell, Bentley or Donaldson.
If we try to defend our way out of this game we will lose.

Agree with that though i think all 3 of the above will find their way in to RS 17.

| Bit disappointing that Rohan initially suggested that Gannon did not suffer a HIA, then mentioned that he would be fine and short term and it is now three months. He should have just kept quiet until Gannon had seen the consultant. Managing expectations etc.
Going to be tough without Oledzki and Holroyd and we never seem to do well at KR. It will be a good opportunity to see if the team has improved or remains similar to previous seasons.
We seem to have the same concerns each year. Struggles in the front row and then Newman / Fussy having long term injuries.

He is too laid back,no passion and the on field indiscipline has actually got worse since he arrived.
Put a disciplined team on the field and we may compete but thats all.
The club/Pearson has no money, and if you cant sign quality players then any team will struggle.
How a club with the support this club has can get to this position is purely down to bad management at the top and the problem is that the Club is Pearsons only income which is likely the reason he wont sell or the reason any investor wont come in if they are just a seat on the board of Directors

| Playing Donaldson at prop is just so negative.
This pretty desperate, but completely predictable, situation with both starting props injured is made for blooding the likes of Ruan and TNW.
Give them game time for gods sake.
I don't have a problem with Donaldson, but I have a massive problem with him getting minutes at prop over those two.

| Gonna be very hard to get a thing from this game. Loosing won’t define our season, but we need a gusty effort as rolling over may have big repercussions on confidence……

| I’m still optimistic but RS does need to pick the right side given our limitations.
We could make Smith play more direct and then spell him with O’Connor rather than sub Ackers, who can play 80. I would think if McDonnell is fit he probably replaces Donaldson and TNW will replace Mik.

| With the amount of money put to Rs for recruitment there can be no excuses with regards the playing roster it's up to the coach to put out a team capable of getting the job done.

And he might.
Also winning tomorrow or losing for that matter doesn’t mean he has or hasn’t got the job done.

| No, but picking Donaldson - who is not and never has been a SL level prop - to start when we're down just one starting prop last week is not a great sign. As Simmo said, its a really negative pick. Do we lose against Salford with Ruan/TNW in for Donaldson? I very much doubt it.
I hope the plan is for as many of Ruan, TNW and Hudson to end up in the squad on a regular basis by the end of the season. In the short term I suspect its Donaldson for another few games...

| It's a tough game whoever plays.
One unknown is how many minutes the likes of Ruan and TNW can manage. With an interchange of Lisone and Sangare things could get a bit wobbly against a big hungry pack.
