Quote: Seth "He's come up with some errors today no doubt but was also the most effective outside back and sicks his neck out to get involved. You know who didn't bomb a try scoring opportunity today, Macdonald, Olpherts and Tindall because they made no impression on the game at all. (I'll stop short of calling any of them wnkers though)'"

Olpherts did have an impact, unfortunately it was a negative one. That dropped ball gave them hope, much like the intercept gave us hope last week.

We got what we deserved, fook all.

Lots of individual errors that cost is again and again.

No leadership, no consistency and no result.
Shame, the first half was the best we have had this season I think especially in defence and pressure.

Second half, less said the better. The missing players hurt abit but christ, same things are still an issue,we just flipped which half this week

Actually enjoyed the game and occasion despite the result but very disappointed in that second half - errors again.

Everyone pointing to the second half but I thought there were some worrying signs in the first where we conceded some line breaks off missed tackles and rode our luck with wigan just coming up short.

The 2nd half was poor, to concede a try from the kick off was rubbish and the slow start we have all feared happened.

When Wigan got back to 14 all, we were hardily in their 20 and smacked off cup game get a point if you can.

Sadly we got tackled into touch and then the next set was hand over ? We then went to 18 to 14 down instead of 15 to 14 up.

There is a total lack of leadership and organisation.

I fail to see what tactics Smith is employing, he needs this season and 12 games next to see what if anything he offers as a coach.

Quote: Barrieā€™s Glass Eye "Newman has to learn from that.

If he wants to go as far as others and clearly he thinks can, then this has to be a bit of a ā€˜feet back on the ground momentā€™

Having said that Morgan Gannon struggled to defend in that channel too and I donā€™t think that helped either of them.'"

There's want to be's and actual class Newman and French.

Correct, at the moment we are a deeply flawed side. Didnā€™t expect to win without Austin , several players certainly not up to top 4 play off standard.
Biggest disappointment regarding Newman ,was French bumping him away to score . He is still a vey immature player itā€™s a challenge to the coaching staff to put him on the right path.

Give it a rest French has 4 years on newman who's spent a log time out injured, showing more nuts to come back from long term injury (twice) than the keyboard trojans calling him a wnker have. French also made a poor effort on newman in the first half.

The French try in the first have was down to positioning from Harry and the defence inside and outside him with them going backwards.

I think I prefer starting poor and finishing strong, instead of starting well and then dropping out of the game. Individual errors hurt both ways of playing though.

Wigan missed a lot of chances first half and we still let them back in the game easily. Our kicking game was basic and the forwards competed fairly well but our three-quarter line was rubbish. Tindall tried but isn't up to scratch, Olpherts looks like a mistake waiting to happen, MacDonald didn't really get involved for me, and that leaves one more who missed two tackles that led to tries and bombed the chance for a winning try.

Good call for the analysis on the first try Seth. Gannon didnā€™t look comfortable defending in that position, and it seemed to have a knock on effect on those around.

Seen as Christopher isn't on here I'm going to lay it on the line players not up to standard Sezer,Fusitua, Lisone, Olpherts,Mcdonald, Austin I don't understand he's average then world beater when he wants, huge decisions to be made in recruitment let's hope Smith bring in some quality people.

Though Newman bombed the try the game was lost when we went away from being direct. How much time do we want to give the kickers? Hopefully tindal goes to hull fc and we have a receipt for olpherts. Big decisions needed on recruitment

smith brought in 3 of them....
dress it up how you want. leaders, lack of quality whatever.
a selfish player cost us a place in the next round.
it all boils down to that. wish I'd been a fly on the wall in the changing room

Lisone added good impact today. Way down the list for criticism.
