I think we all would mainly agree he's good enough.
His he needed well this isn't as cut and dry. The signing of Bentley plus 4 other second rowers we have plenty of cover. We would I feel be wasting cap space if we retained Martin as our priorities should be a prop signing.'"
Yes and it depends what size of contract he’s on of course.
I’m concerned we are able to provide pathways for our young talent, and that we are financially able to pay them a fair rate too.
Whisper it but one or two of our juniors are going to attract NRL interest at some point.
Our OS players need to be in the Webb, Donald. Leuluai, Buderus mould rather than the Achurch going forward.

Another thing with the overseas boys in particular is how hard it can be isolating in a new country, and being apart from social networks.
Don’t get me wrong Martin is solid rather than spectacular, but we should judge players in light of the current context. COVID has hit several squad members hard and some have been struggling with aerobic capacity afterwards.'"
Agree. Tetevano is one also struggling to get fitness back after having Covid. He said he never usually gets ill and if he does he's always trained it off but covid hit him like a train. Put him on his back for nearly 3 weeks, came very close to hospital also. And this is a guy who is hard as nails and as fit as they come for a pro RL player. He'll get there but will take time.

Agree completely. I think some underestimate how hard it is to get back to your pre covid output after it has hit you like a train. Yes they're athletes, but human nonetheless.

Which makes the decision to leave him on the field, and leave King on the bench, when he was out on his feet with his hands on his knees against Wire, even more unbelievable!!
Really poor player management that was.

Agree fully with the last bit. But we need to be every bit as demanding of the youngsters we bring through. They simply must be top drawer

He’s quoted four of the best OS players in the clubs history there! Absolutely not a chance to attract that kind of quality anymore. We need to lower expectations.....

Disagree mate; Donald and Kylie were plucked for relative obscurity over there and were great for us. Zane is a bigger name than Kylie was.
We never were really in the market for current SOO players. Brett Delaney, Chris McKenna, Brad Godden were all cracking players just under that level too.
Don’t get me wrong we are not high in world pecking order - but we can attract good players and it is this calibre I’d like to see again.
Historically we’ve done worse with the big splash signings anyway.

Maybe so we are better going for quality than quantity. Bring the youth through and sign good players home grown or quota in the positions we need.
