Hats off to Briscoe tonight who I have bagged most season.
Handley as well taking the pressure off the forwards with some strong runs.
Myler again very good and those having a go at McLelland need to look at Newman tonight who should have scored at least 2 and gave a ball steal away for 6 points.
But it was one of those days for him and he will learn from it.
Not convinced about McLelland but he is certainly game rusty but games are running out to prove himself.
Forwards very good and personally I would have given Dwyer MoM as he changed the game.
On the Austin front I`m still not sure where he will play next season and is taking up a quota spot to boot.

Quote: Seth "Cameron Smith I'd like to see start on his own merit but also adding more fire to the prop rotation and more dynamism to move the defensive line bettering the limited creativity in the halves. Him and the 2 wingers stood out for me with Mik when he was on.'"
I would start Smith and have 2 props on the bench and one second rower. That way you can give a prop a rest if needed or pick best 4 on form.

Still not sure about Cam Smith. He made a great impact in the second half, but defensively he can look sluggish at times. I appreciate that he does a lot of tackling but his failure to push up was highlighted by Sky as one of the reasons for the first Hull try. Just before COVID struck he was looking really sharp - I hope he can get back to that form and push on.

Poor first half, conceding silly penalties, missing elementary tackles and making basic errors. Made me laugh the offside penalty we conceded after Hurrell's knock on, Moore had taken us back 15m and the entire team must have been back at least 13m but he still gave a penalty against us for offside.

There was good goal line scramble in the first half and we played much better in the 2nd half. I worry this may have taken a lot out of us and would rotate anyone with niggles or particularly tired for the Wanky game. Bring in Holroyd, Thompson, Sutcliffe, Gannon etc. where necessary who are all more than capable.

I thought the ref was pretty inconsistent with the set restarts. Hull players would trap Leeds players in the tackle and the ref would award a set restart whereas when roles reversed, he would just tell Leeds players to get up and play the ball and to stop trapping them. Wynne should have seen red and I expect will receive a healthy ban and god knows how Myler received a yellow: too many refs looking to even it up when sending someone off.

Well played Leeds, how you hung on in that first half was excellent. Best team won, we are still trying to score icon_biggrin.gif

Let us be honest Hull were Bloody Awful and against a decent team the game would have been over at half time . I bet Connor could get another 2K per month now if he has not yet signed his contract because without him they are poor .
As for Leeds we still have the half back issues and a discipline problem although i agree the ref did not help us in that regard

Myler excellent again , if Walker ever gets fit he will have to improve to replace him .

Briscoe Went pretty well last night

Newman Potential no doubt but very much over rated on actual achievment so far (do not jump down my throat i am sure he will make it and is bound to be rusty but talk of England is a fair way off ) , the world and his wife knew what was going to happen for their last try but he did not

Hurrel More rocks than Diamonds i'm afraid

Handley Good player , very cosistent always looking to do the hard graft , not sure where he was for the 40/20

Mclleland Not good enough , i still do not know what his main attributes are

Gale Underwhelming

Oledski Absolute class

Leeming Up and Down

Prior Machine , just discipline issues at times

Martin Thought he went well last night and is becoming consistent again

Tetevano Did ok to say how long he has been out

Smith Was excellent last night

King went ok but his discipline needs sorting

Donaldson You always get what it says on the packet

Dwyer Changed the game , yep his distribution is poor but he is nearly always our main and sometimes only attacking threat

Thanks for writing this and saving me articulating my post game day thoughts eusa_clap.gif

Though I think Harry will quickly put that one to bed, not seen a performance like that from him for some time before his injury.

Not jumping down your throat but...

Before his injury he was first class, his stats were very very good and he was breaking tackles making yardage for fun, I agree he wasn't/isn't nowhere near the finished article but I don't think he was over rated at all.

It is going to take him a few games to get back to anywhere near his previous form, he had a very serious injury that could have ended his career, this is going to take a while to get over physically but more importantly mentally.

I do however agree that he won't or shouldn't be playing for England at the end of the year - well, nobody might be playing for them yet.

Personally I think Newman is a winger, certainly for the next couple of seasons, he is a dangerous runner but too lateral and seems to have not got a good centres hands or any pass at all.

He was a little wobbly last night, but nothing that won't be quickly put right. I thought he looked the business in the Salford game. Looks a really strong young athlete now.

In terms of pure athleticism, and attitude, Newman is the best young player to come through in years. I get the impression, he's not going to be the best centre to play outside of, but he has the right attitude to take him to the top. He has the attributes that I think the likes of Walters and McClelland currently lack.

Just on Newman, I got there early last night and he went through quite a long routine with a trainer on the pitch around an hour before kick off, with nobody else on the pitch. Most of it was very simple stretching and flexing rather than intense, top flight athlete stuff.

I wonder if he may be given a rest on Sunday. Not sure 3 games in 9 days is what he needs as a reintroduction.

A big draw back of having no reserves is it’s straight into SL after long lay-off. Same goes for Callum M who was cramping after an hour v Salford.

Newman went through the same routine before the Salford home game last week as well..at the time I was concerned it was a late fitness worry to see if he could play or not
