This squad is about resting as many players as possible, not about giving youth a chance in a game that we are realistically trying to win...but whatever fits what you want to believe i suppose...whatever the reason, im looking forward to seeing how some of the lads do individually against a big experienced team. Think plenty of the lads are first teamers in the future.

Not clutching at straws at all, I’ve said consistently that I thought the younger players would get a chance due to the congested fixture list, and this is happening, and it will happen for more than just this game as the fixtures come thick and fast before the end of the season.

We have brought in some more experienced players who can slot into a side along with the youngsters which means they aren’t just thrown in on their own.

We have seen Holroyd and Sutcliffe make their way into the match day squad recently and this game gives some of the younger players a chance to try make a claim to join them.

We have quite s big advantage in this years strange season as we have quite a large squad and I believe now the games are coming thick and fast we will see that squad utilised.

I agree Seth and also looking at that squad its going to be hard to put a balanced team out.

Everbody knew we'd see a squad like this for this game, the announcement has suprised nobody. Its how you choose to view the reasons this squads been picked. If you think this is youth getting there well earned chance then thats your choice. The reality is that Its clearly the first team getting a rest thats the motive of the selection. Anybody thats left is in this squad, as happy as i am with the lads getting a game, its a game in which the club are accepting a defeat for the bigger picture...certainly dosnt solidify anybodys opinion on our youth getting blocked by signings like Ferres one way or another...regardless of how much you may want it to

My point being the youth can get games along with the signings like thompson and Ferres so they aren’t just thrown in without some experience alongside them, whilst we can also rest the majority of the first team.

My point being in a game we actually tried to win, ferres was selected before the likes of walters or muizz, at the time you said we cant just throw the young lads in at an hours notice because its not an ideal situation for them, now theyr getting thrown in in the least ideal situation possible for them, you champion it as youth getting there chance when the reality is its the first team getting a rest.

Besides any of that, that conversation was ages ago and everyone else has moved on, it is what it is, you have your view, others have theres, just let it go...but soon as the squads announced your here telling everyone that this proves you were right and they were wrong... because we'r playing a reserve team in a match we arnt expecting to win??..like i say, clutching at straws.

Just enjoy the selection for what it is, a chance to see some of the younger lads get a game because our big picture dictates its the best thing to do.

My take is one or 3 should have been given a go off the bench previously to give them a taste of it but im sure they will do their best and wont let the club down.

I was thinking Cats might rest a few too but looks like we’re in for a tough match.

A loss by less than 40 would be a win tbh.

Cats is not the side you would choose to blood so many young players at a once. Big and aggressive, let’s hope we don’t pick up more injuries.

We don’t have much choice though so I hope he lads get stuck in and throw something at the opposition.

Im sure theyl do the club proud marty, could get pretty ugly on the scoreboard but i cant wait for them to have a go. There will be very little cohesion id imagine so im more looking forward to seeing how the lads go individually..with there mentality, physicality and athleticism against a big side. Cant wait.

I suppose i do like to take the mick out of some of the posts on here as quite frankly they are funny, we certainly wear the tag ‘whinos’ very well, there’s no malice in it.

Lets leave it at that.

On the game I think we may go OK there will still be a bit of experience in there and the exuberance of youth will give some energy, I think we’ll keep it within 18-20 points

I haven’t been away. I just pity a lot of the posters on here nowadays for the nonsense. The game is terrible now, and anybody who has success this year, will have about as much credit as winning an egg and spoon race at school. A completely pointless season that should never be part of the history books. Let’s just move on to the future. Who cares about winning or losing.

There’s little else to enjoy at the moment and I for one are just grateful weve got some rugby on at all and some of the games since the restart have been much needed entertainment.
